Cantica Gratiae, meaning "Canticles of Grace" or "Songs of Thanksgiving," is a humble Catholic music apostolate founded by Mark Anthony Reyes. The apostolate began as Psalms Ph (2018–2022) and later became David’s Psalter (2022–early 2024), focusing initially on providing Responsorial Psalms for Sunday liturgies in the Diocese of Urdaneta. Over time, its mission expanded to include a wider range o

f liturgical music, such as Mass settings, inspirational song covers, virtual concerts, and recitals. At its core, Cantica Gratiae is a way of giving thanks to God. Each song and melody is a simple yet sincere offering, returning the gift of music to the One who has so generously bestowed it. Copyright Β© 2018–2025 Mark Anthony M. Reyes. All rights reserved. A Prayer to St. Benedict for Music Ministers
July 11

O holy Father Benedict,
you who taught the world the way of balance, prayer, and work, look kindly upon us, music ministers,
who strive to glorify God through song and silence.

Teach us to serve not for applause, but for adoratioβ€”not to be heard, but to help others hear the voice of God. In moments of pride, draw us back to simplicity.
In temptation to perform, remind us to pray.

Like you, may we choose the hidden path:
joyfully laboring in the background,
supporting the liturgy with reverence,
and always giving more of ourselves than we take.

Help us to sing with hearts bowed low,
knowing that every melody is borrowed from heaven,
and every harmony a gift entrusted to us
for the sanctification of the Church.

Grant us the discipline to prepare well,
the charity to collaborate in peace,
and the humility to accept correction with grace.

St. Benedict, patron of those who seek God above all,
keep us faithful to our calling as servants of sacred music, so that our voices and instruments may lead others to the eternal praise of Christ.

Amen.

The Vatican’s Sacred Music School is helping Catholics around the world sing ancient Gregorian chant through a new initiative called β€œLet’s Sing with the Pope.” Inspired by Pope Leo XIV’s recent singing of the Regina Coeli from the balcony of St. Peter’s Square, the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, in collaboration with the Dicastery for Communication, is producing short educational video tutorials on social media. The goal is to help the faithful actively participate in liturgical celebrations with the Holy Father. Fr. Robert Mehlhart, OP, who leads the project, teaches viewers how to read and sing simple notes while explaining the meaning of the Latin texts. With nearly one million views in just one week, the response has been overwhelming. This initiative seeks to glorify God through song, and even non-believers are being moved by it; as one commenter wrote, β€œFather you made an atheist sing with the pope.”
