Christmas Day rises like a quiet hymn in the heart of the world. For us Filipinos, it is more than a celebrationโit is a season of the soul. From decorating their homes as soon as โber monthsโ start to the final glow of Christmas morning, faith and family weave together like candlelight and prayer. Across the world, this day is marked by many languages and traditions, yet all look toward the same sky, guided by a single promise: Light was born into the darkness, and hope took its first breath.
Back when we were children, Christmas felt like a miracle we could touch with just a letter to Santa Claus. We would decorate those letters in red and green, then draw snowflakes, stars or gifts; while we, and the rest of the world, anticipated for the actual day. Parols glowed like fallen stars, kids caroled door to door, and as soon as the day arrived, every gift felt enchanted. As we grew older, the magic seemed to soften; Christmas became quieter, shaped by responsibilities, and sometimes it can reach a point where families arenโt able to celebrate as a whole.
Yet like the Star of Bethlehem, its light never truly fadedโit simply learned to guide us in gentler ways, reminding us that Christmas is not about what lies beneath the tree, but about a humble birth that continues to speak to tired and unseen hearts, assuring us that light is present even in moments of weakness.
As this sacred season unfolds, Saint Maryโs Angels College of Valenzuela extends its warmest Christmas greetings to the entire community. May everyone have a Merry Christmasโwhether surrounded by family, sharing a smile with strangers, or quietly alone. As the song goes, this is the season to be jolly, every heart deserves a moment of peace, every soul a touch of joy, and every life a reminder that Christmas, in its deepest meaning, belongs to all. May the Star that once led shepherds and kings continue to guide our hearts as we grow older.
