đź“° VERUELA MARKS 125th CIVIL SERVICE ANNIVERSARY WITH HISTORIC LAUNCH OF GAWAD STM AWARDS
VERUELA, AGUSAN DEL SUR – The Municipality of Veruela proudly joined the nation in celebrating the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing sa Bayan.” The highlight of the month-long celebration was the grand launching of the Gawad Serbisyong Tinud-anay alang sa Malahutayong Kalambuan (STM) Awards, held at the Maasin Covered Court, Barangay Poblacion, Maasin, Veruela.
Municipal Administrator Myrna S. Mondejar, MPA opened the event with a warm welcome, setting the tone for unity and service excellence. This was followed by Ms. Rena L. Naguita, MPACS, MLGOO Veruela, who presented the Rationale and Overview of the Gawad STM Awards. She emphasized that the awards are rooted in Mayor Salimar “Loloy” Torralba Mondejar’s commitment to genuine public service and sustainable development, anchored on the 1987 Constitution, Local Government Code of 1991, and DILG programs such as SGLG, Kalinisan sa Bagong Pilipinas, and Integrity and Good Governance.
The program reached its peak with the Ceremonial Launching and Unveiling of the Official Logo, Plaque, and Trophy, led by Mayor Mondejar together with PD-DILG Agusan del Sur Arleen Ann R. Sanchez, Vice Mayor Edgar P. Brigole, department heads, Punong Barangays, and SK Chairpersons—symbolizing a united front in promoting transparency, accountability, and performance excellence.
In his keynote message, Mayor Salimar Loloy Torralba Mondejar stressed that the Civil Service celebration is more than a commemoration—it is a renewed commitment to align governance with integrity, accountability, and citizen participation. He reaffirmed his flagship vision of making Veruela the cleanest and safest municipality in the region, recognizing the crucial role of barangay officials in achieving this transformative goal.
DILG Provincial Director Arleen Ann R. Sanchez lauded the Gawad STM Awards, calling it not just a recognition program but a movement of integrity, empowerment, and transformation. She urged barangay and SK officials to embrace the awards as a mirror of performance and compass for the future, declaring: “Let us make good governance a tradition, not a trend; empower youth leadership; and transform peace and cleanliness into realities.”
The event also featured the Pledge of Commitment and Solidarity Signing, spearheaded by SB Member Sahlee Myr S. Mondejar, principal author of Municipal Ordinance No. 51, and led by Mayor Mondejar and Director Sanchez. They were joined by municipal officials, department heads, Punong Barangays, and SK Chairpersons, who altogether affirmed their dedication to the ordinance’s objectives.
The celebration concluded with Vice Mayor Edgar P. Brigole’s heartfelt closing remarks, underscoring the spirit of solidarity, unity, and shared vision for good governance and sustainable development.
