What I Wish I Knew When I Started as a Virtual Assistant (VA)
Starting out, I had no roadmap, just a desire to work from home and provide for my family. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot that I wish I knew earlier:
1. You don’t need to know everything.
Start with what you have. The rest, you’ll learn by doing.
2. Your skills will improve with real experience.
Training is great, but doing the work is where growth really happens.
3. Choose a niche and go deep.
I committed to Property Management, and it helped me attract better clients and increase my rate.
4. Systems and organization are your best friend.
Learn tools, workflows, and processes early — they’ll save you time and stress.
5. Value your work from the beginning.
Don’t undersell yourself. The more you grow, the more your time is worth.
You don’t need to be perfect to start — just consistent enough to keep going.
