𝙄𝙉 𝙋𝙃𝙊𝙏𝙊𝙎| As part of the week-long celebration of life of the University President, Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University held a Thanksgiving Mass at the ZPPSU Gymnasium today, October 17.

The mass was attended by key university officials, faculty members, staff, and students. The event was a testament of faith uplifting the spirits of all the attendees.

This was followed by a heartfelt message and prayers from Rev. Father Jose Filmore Calibo, who delivered a thoughtful and inspirational sharing which moved the academic community.

The eucharistic celebration concluded with warm wishes and greetings. Hence, Dr. Cabral then expressed his gratitude, acknowledging everyone for their presence during this special occasion.

𝑨 𝑴𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 in 𝒁𝑷𝑷𝑺𝑼

The Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) proudly held the Blessing and Turnover Ceremony of the Rubberized Oval Track Facility with Mini Grandstand (Phase 1) and Project SWISH (Safe Water Initiative Student Hydration) — remarkable symbols of progress, collaboration, and the university’s shared commitment to student wellness and sustainable development.

The event featured the official Message of Turnover from Engr. Ladeslao S. Darunday, General Owner of 3VC Zamboanga Construction, Inc., who expressed the company’s dedication to contributing to ZPPSU’s continuous infrastructure advancement.

The ceremony was graced by the ZPPSU President, Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, together with the City Mayor, Hon. Khymer Adan Olaso including key university officials while special guests also joined the event, including representatives from SM City Mindpro:

Mr. Allen V. Macaso, Senior HR Manager

Mr. Arnel P. Manahan, Public Relations Manager

Engr. Rommel P. Bellen, Assistant Mall Manager

Ms. Diane S. Candido, LPT, MA, Principal of Senior High School

Their presence emphasized the spirit of partnership and unity in promoting institutional growth and community engagement.

In his message, Dr. Cabral expressed his heartfelt gratitude to former Senator and now Secretary of the Department of Education, Hon. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara Jr., for his fullest support and funding for the track oval facility — a significant contribution that made the project’s completion possible.

The newly inaugurated facilities embody ZPPSU’s mission of fostering health, wellness, and sustainability within the campus. Both projects stand as testaments to the university’s continuous pursuit of excellence, collaboration, and environmental responsibility.

Indeed, it was a day of milestones, shared vision, and progress toward a greener and greater ZPPSU!

Stay Alert, Stay Safe: ZPPSU initiates Tsunami Awareness Symposium with PHIVOLCS

Due to the series of unforeseen earthquakes in the Philippines, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University(ZPPSU), through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, in coordination with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS)–Zamboanga City, initiated a Tsunami Awareness Symposium in the university gymnasium on October 17, 2025.

The symposium aimed to provide the university community with essential knowledge about preparing for earthquakes and tsunamis, and understanding the crucial actions to take during such calamities.

The symposium featured Engr. Allan R. Labayog of PHIVOLCS–Zamboanga City as the resource speaker. He emphasized the signs of impending tsunamis and earthquakes, preparation measures, and hazards associated with these disasters.

The event highlighted the university's dedication to fostering care and providing necessary information to the university community.

Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) — composing of faculty, staff, and students joined and ran together in a three-kilometer Fun Run from Paseo Del Mar to the ZPPSU grounds today, October 14. This is one of the highlights of the natal celebration of the ZPPSU President, Dr. Nelson P. Cabral for his inspiring leadership that continues to transform the university. It aims to strengthen unity, build stronger relationships, uplift the ZPPSU spirit, and promote physical fitness and wellness among participants.

This event was organized by the College of Physical Education and Sports (CPES) in partnership with the Supreme Student Council (SSC), Sports Development Office, Office of Culture and Arts, Office of Academic Affairs, and student organizations from the different colleges.

This fun activity showcases the university’s dedication in fostering teamwork, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and strengthening the sense of belongingness within the academic community.

As part of the week-long celebration of life, Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and Philippine Red Cross (PRC), promoted wellness through Bloodletting and Medical-Dental Mission at the 2nd floor of Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara Building and the Medical-Dental Building simultaneously today, October 13.

This activity with the leadership and guidance of the University Physician, Dr. Francheska Ochotorena, in coordination with the Office of the Student Affairs and Services, ZPPSU DRRMO, Supreme Student Council and NSTP, offered free medical consultations, dental checkup and tooth extractions, and medicine distribution for all bona fide students, faculty, and staff of ZPPSU.

The annual health advocacy is in line with the birthday celebration of the University President, Dr. Nelson P. Cabral.
