HOLIDAY ADVISORY| MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27 IS A REGULAR HOLIDAY in celebration of Bonifacio Day, traditionally held on Nov. 30.
This, pursuant to Proclamation 90 (amending Proclamation 42, series 2022), issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in November 2022, which moves the commemoration of Bonifacio Day to Nov. 27, 2023, the nearest Monday to its original date, Nov. 30, 2023. This is in line with what officials described as “holiday economics.”
“There is a need to adjust these holidays (regular and special non-working days) pursuant to the principle of holiday economics wherein a longer weekend will help encourage domestic travel and increase tourism expenditures in the country,” the proclamation read.
With this, it will be another long weekend, as Nov. 25 is a Saturday and Nov. 26 is a Sunday.
Known in the Philippines as 'Araw ng Kapanganakan ni Bonifacio', this day commemorates the birth of Andrés Bonifacio on 30 November 1863. He was the founder of the Katipunan, a secret society that instigated the Philippine Revolution of 1896.
