Claret Scribes Train for Truth

On September 20, 2025, members of the Claretian publication took part in a campus journalism seminar facilitated by Mr. Hideki Bryne S. Yuzawa of Southcom National High School at Xifre Building, Claret School of Zamboanga City. The activity aimed to enhance the writing and reporting skills of the students while promoting the values and ethical practices of campus journalism.

Mr. Yuzawa highlighted the importance of truth, accuracy, fairness, and independence as guiding principles in journalism. He also reminded the participants to avoid bias, plagiarism, and sensationalism while respecting their sources.

The seminar covered various writing forms such as news, feature, sports, editorial, science and technology, as well as copy reading and headline writing. An interactive workshop on crafting headlines and leads gave students the chance to apply their learning and receive direct feedback.

โ€œAng wika ay nagbibigay lakas upang maging isang tinig.

CLARET GOES GREEN: GREEN LIGHT DAY โ™ป๏ธ

The Claretian community proudly reopens the Red Goes Green Movement (RGGM), reaffirming its commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and community cleanliness. This yearโ€™s Green Light Day stands as a vibrant symbol of our collective loveโ€”not only for Mother Earth but also for the Claretian family. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

Students, teachers, and staff united with a shared purpose: to foster a cleaner, safer, and more eco-friendly environment. The mission is simple yet powerfulโ€” to turn every speck of dust into properly disposed trash. On this special day, every individual plays a vital role, and every effort truly matters.

Let this serve as a call to action for all Claretians: be part of this meaningful movement. Together, let us show that we are responsible stewards of the Earth, caring for the world entrusted to us.

Live by the GREEN CODE:
โœ… Gโ€“ Give up disposables
โœ… R โ€“ Reuse what you bring
โœ… Eโ€“ Eliminate trash bins
โœ… Eโ€“ Embrace CLAYGO (Clean As You Go)
โœ… N โ€“ Nurture creation, especially on Green Light Day

Let us work hand in hand to practice sustainability, promote recycling, and protect our planetโ€”not just today, but for a cleaner, brighter tomorrow.

CSZC Competes in Concurso de Saber del Ciudad Quiz Bowl 2025

Showcasing their knowledge and love for Zamboanga Cityโ€™s heritage, Aicelle Locson and Dylan Paul Brutas of Grade 10-Pananampalataya from Claret School of Zamboanga City (CSZC), proudly represented their school in the Concurso de Saber del Ciudad Quiz Bowl 2025. The event took place on February 25, 2025, at Zamboanga Seafood House, Barangay San Roque, as part of the 88th Dia de la Ciudad de Zamboanga celebration.

The quiz bowl, an annual tradition, brought together 15 schools competing for the championship title. It tested studentsโ€™ knowledge of Zamboangaโ€™s history, culture, traditions, and famous landmarks, with questions covering historical events, past leaders, the local language, festivals, and specialties.

Under the guidance of their coach, Mrs. Aileen Balagon, Locson and Brutas showcased impressive teamwork, advancing to the medium round and securing a cash prize of 3,000 pesos. However, only the top teams progressed to the final hard round, where a larger cash prize awaited.

Despite the tough competition, the students took pride in the experience, which deepened their appreciation for Zamboangaโ€™s rich heritage. The event also fostered camaraderie among participants who shared a passion for history and culture.

The Concurso de Saber del Ciudad Quiz Bowl plays a vital role in preserving Zamboangaโ€™s traditions by inspiring the younger generation to learn about their roots. The Claretian community commends its representatives for their dedication and hard work, proving that "Knowledge is Best with Virtue!"
