July was full-on survival mode, but August called for a much-needed reset. 🌿✨

When I first moved to Zamboanga City, finding a community of fellow creatives was high on my list. A quick Facebook search led me to Recuerdo Journal Club Zamboanga and I immediately knew I had to join!

Fast forward to August 23—spent a cozy Sunday afternoon (4–6 PM) at Kaf Coffee in Sta. Catalina surrounded by amazing people, iced coffee, snacks, craft supplies, and endless journal inspiration. No pressure, just warm conversations and the sweet reminder that slowing down is productive too. 📓✂️☕

So happy to have found my creative tribe in my new home! Heart is full (and my journal pages are happier than ever). 💖

MIA for months on social media because me and bebu officially moved permanently from Metro Manila to Zamboanga City last May 17–19! First time for both of us here, finally ending the LDR with my partner and starting our province life chapter! ✨

Na-maximize na rin naman namin ang Manila life; mamimiss ko lang talaga 'yung friends, food spots, at mall hangouts. The rest? Nahhhhh. 😂

We took the MV St. Michael the Archangel via 2GO Travel instead of flying! With 150kg total baggage allowance (50kg per person), a fragile CPU setup with a glass panel, and our pet in tow, traveling by sea was the smartest choice. 🚢🐾

Quick MV St. Michael the Archangel Review:
⚓️ Room: Suite sold out fast, so we got a Tourist for 4 room. Super clean, spacious, and sobrang lamig ng AC (jackets + extra covers are a MUST!).
⚓️ Facilities & Vibe: Surprised by how complete it was! Merong front desk, lobby, souvenir shop, QuikMart, Café2Go, plus restaurants like Horizon Cafe and Island Fiesta.
⚓️ Pet-Friendly Setup: Super convenient for pet owners! Meron silang dedicated area for pets where you can visit them to clean their space or give food during allowed feeding times.
⚓️ Signal: Ito lang talaga downside. Unavailable 'yung WiFi nila that time, so practically zero signal/data the whole trip except 'pag malapit na sa land or during stops at Dumaguete & Dipolog. Digital detox yarn!
⚓️ Food: Island Fiesta serves non-suite classes (Tourist down to Super Value), so expect super habang pila during meal times—better pumila nang maaga! Food is okay, but pro-tip: magdala pa rin ng non-perishable snacks/baon kasi medyo pricey din ang ibang bilihin sa loob.

Timeline: Manila (Sun night) ➡️ Dumaguete & Dipolog ➡️ Zamboanga Port (Tue, 9 PM).

Overall, smooth and comfortable stay naman! But will I ride again? Maybe for shorter trips lang with less baggage. Medyo kaloka 'yung loading and unloading ng heavy stuff via stairs kasi walang elevators. Meron naman porters but yeaaaah frugal mode sooo nagpass kami dun hahaha. Plane person pa rin talaga ako at heart, but 2GO definitely delivered for this move.

Happy 9th Birthday to my brave girl, Khalee! 🐾✨

Looking at her today—full of life and back to her usual self—it’s honestly hard to believe the heartbreak we were facing just a few weeks ago.

The week before July 28, her energy suddenly dropped. Even when she was just lying down, it looked like she could barely carry her own weight. She was still eating and drinking, but her liveliness was totally gone, and her weight dropped from 4.4 kgs to 3.8 kgs. We rushed her to the clinic for a CBC, blood chem, and a 6-in-1 test kit.

Nothing could have prepared me for those results. When she tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) and FCV (Feline Calicivirus), I completely broke down. I was consumed by guilt and 'what ifs,' blaming myself for not preventing contact with local strays—or for the possibility that her food bowl and water dispenser were contaminated by their saliva.

I had to pull myself together for her. On July 29, we started a heavy routine of 7 different meds and supplements for her organs, blood levels, and immune system. Khalee fought so hard through all of it, and today she’s down to her last 3 medicines. Her energy is fully back and she’s living her normal, happy life again.

I know FeLV feels like a ticking clock, but I’m holding onto so much hope that she’ll stay with us for another happy year or two. I just can't bear the thought of losing her now.

I also really want to raise awareness about FeLV: Feline Leukemia Virus weakens a cat's immune system, making them vulnerable to severe anemia and infections. There's no cure, but with early detection, proper vet care, and lots of love, FeLV+ cats can still live comfortable, wonderful lives.

🚨 IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS 🚨

Sharing this para mas lalong maging vigilant tayong lahat. Last Wednesday, August 5, nangyari ang isang nakakatakot na incident sa anak ko mismo. This is a very real reminder na kailangan nating paulit-ulit na turuan ang ating mga anak tungkol sa pakikipag-usap or sumama sa hindi kakilala.

Between 3:45 to 4:30 PM, habang nag-aabang ang anak ko sa akin sa waiting shed tabi mismo ng main gate ng school (malapit sa Landbank ATM), may isang Piaggio driver na pumarada sa may poste at lumapit sa kaniya. Inalok siya ng ₱50 (nilagay mismo sa palad niya) para sumakay at sinabing ihahatid daw siya pauwi.

Total stranger ito. Mabuti na lang talaga, paulit-ulit ko sa kaniyang itinuturo na huwag sasama sa hindi kilala. Agad siyang tumanggi at sinabing may sundo siya sabay umalis. May dalawa rin siyang classmates na tinawag siya at nagsabing 'wag sasama at isumbong sa guard.

Sig**o sa gulat o kaba, medyo na-blanko ang anak ko kaya hindi niya naisumbong agad sa guard. Nakuwento na lang niya sa akin nung nasa KCC Mall na kami. Kung nalaman ko lang agad habang nasa school pa kami, kinausap ko agad yung mga guards or mga pulis sa area.

Sobrang thankful ako na hindi siya basta-basta nadadala sa alok ng ibang tao. We really don’t know when and where predators will come, kaya we should always be vigilant to protect our kids.

ACTIONS TAKEN & UPDATE:
- Reported to School: The following day, nireport ko ito sa Class Adviser niya para ma-inform ang school administration at para ma-remind ang lahat.
- Coordinated with Local Authorities: Nakipag-usap na rin kami sa mga BPSO (Barangay Public Safety Officers) na assigned sa tapat ng Sta. Maria Central School para maging aware sila at mas ma-observe ang paligid sa mga susunod na araw.
- Meeting with the Principal: Yesterday, August 7, we met with the Principal in her office for the official inquiry and incident report. According to them, this is the first time such an incident happened, but they took this matter very seriously and gave us full assurance regarding my son’s safety within the school premises. I’m deeply grateful for their swift response.

- Wag na 'wag kakausap o sasama sa hindi kakilala, kahit anong ialok (pera, pagkain, laruan, o kahit sabihin pang ipinapasundo natin sila).
- Magsumbong agad sa authority: Kapag may nagtangkang lumapit, tumakbo agad sa pinakamalapit na guard, g**o, o pulis/BPSO, at mag-ingay kung kinakailangan.
- Stay in safe areas: Hangga't maaari, sa loob ng campus o sa mismong tapat ng guards maghintay ng sundo.

We stayed at Marigold Pool Villa (perfect for the squad up to 6 pax) na may 2 floors, ice-cold AC, and pool view right outside. Biggest flex? Sobrang lakas ng Wi-Fi kahit saan! 💻🔥

Waterpark-wise, next level! From the massive waves sa Pacific Wave Pool hanggang sa Seven Misfits slides, physical damage kung hindi ka mag-enjoy dito. High praise for cleanliness; we felt at ease and safer during our stay, since they now have an official Philippine Coast Guard post on-site, in addition to their alert lifeguards. We found a legit Middle Eastern spot in QC! ✨

We visited Keebs Kebab & Shawarma Kitchen during their grand opening in White Plains. I grew up with this cuisine, kaya high standards ako when it comes to shawarma or kebabs… pero this place is the real deal.
