The billionaire Jack Ma has reportedly been hiding out in Tokyo with his family during Beijing’s crackdown on the country’s star tech firms and its most powerful and wealthy business people.

Ma, the founder of the e-commerce giant Alibaba who until the tech clampdown was China’s richest person, has rarely been seen in public since criticising the attitude of Chinese regulators towards tech companies at a summit in Shanghai two years ago.

Aside from a 48-second online appearance early last year, described by one analyst as akin to a “hostage video”, a brief trip to the Netherlands and Ma’s 88-metre superyacht Zen being spotted last summer docking off the Spanish island of Mallorca, the 58-year-old has maintained a low profile living outside his native China.

A British cat nearing age 27 has been named the oldest cat living by Guinness World Records.

Guinness World Records said the cat, named Flossie, was verified as 26 years and 316 days old, roughly the equivalent of 120 years old in humans.
The record-keeping organization said Flossie was originally adopted as a stray living near a hospital with her siblings and lived with her first owner until their death about 10 years later. Flossie then lived with her original owner's sister for 14 years, until that owner also died.

Flossie was taken in by another relative, who was able to care for her for about three years before turning the feline over to charity Cats Protection.

Cats Protection placed Flossie in a new home with owner Vicki Green.

"She sometimes misses her litter box or needs help grooming herself, but I can help with all of that. We're in this together," Green told Guinness World Records. "Cats Protection has a lot of mature cats in need of a home and they don't need to be high maintenance. All they want is a cuddle and somewhere warm to sleep. I'm glad that Cats Protection matched me with Flossie; adopting her has been rewarding for us both."

Wildlife officials in New York said a white deer caught on camera in West Seneca "appears to be a leucistic white-tailed deer."

The West Seneca Police Department posted photos to Facebook showing what the department theorized to be a "Seneca white deer."
"They maybe just got confused by our local highway signs for 'West Seneca' and took the wrong exit," the post said.

TJ Pignataro of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation told WKBW-TV the animal "appears to be a leucistic white-tailed deer."

"Leucism, where there are white patches, or in some cases all white fur, is a rare condition. True albinism, where the animal completely lacks pigment, even in the eyes, is even more rare than leucism. The deer in the photo is not an albino deer," Pignataro said.

WhatsApp, the Meta-owned social messaging application, has started rolling ‘Message Yourself’ feature, which let you chat with yourself.

According to details, the ‘Message Yourself’ was first spotted by WaBetaInfo several weeks ago as part of a beta test, but is now being rolled out globally to iOS and Android users in the coming weeks.

Once you get the update, you’ll be able to see yourself at the top of the contacts list when creating new messages. The feature will allow users to send notes, reminders and shopping lists to themselves on WhatsApp.

Users can also pin their Message Yourself chats to the top of a conversation list for easier access. Until now, you could only message yourself by creating a group with just you as a member or by using the apps “click to chat” feature.
“WhatsApp only publicly started testing this feature back in October. Some users have managed to work around its absence in the past by creating a group and then removing other members to essentially create a private chat for yourself,” GSMArena reported.

The feature will be available in the coming weeks.

Earlier in November, Meta-owned messaging application planned to soon introduce a screen lock option for desktop users.

This new screen lock feature was already available for android users. security of the messaging app was the main concern for desktop users as logging on WhatsApp on the web can be quite unsafe.

Cameroon’s first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana has been suspended for disciplinary reasons, the country’s federation (FECAFOOT) said, after he was left out of the squad for their 3-3 draw with Serbia at the World Cup on Monday.

Onana was marked as “absent” on the team sheet, with head coach Rigobert Song saying he had to “put the team first ahead of an individual” amid reports of a falling-out over tactics.
Cameroon are third in Group G on one point and need to beat Brazil in their final group game on Friday to stand any chance of reaching the last 16.

“The Cameroon Football Federation hereby informs the public that following Mr. Rigobert Song Bahanag’s decision, head coach of the Indomitable Lions, the player Andre Onana has been temporarily suspended from the group for disciplinary reasons,” the statement said.

Belgian police detained a dozen people and made one arrest on Sunday after Morocco’s victory over Belgium in the World Cup match in Qatar triggered riots in Brussels with a car and some electric scooters set on fire.

Police said that 11 people had been arrested with one remaining in custody.

Even before the end of the match, “dozens of people, including some wearing hoodies, sought confrontation with the police, which compromised public safety,” Brussels police said in a statement.

A spokeswoman said some fans were armed with sticks and a journalist “was injured in the face by fireworks”.

Around a hundred police officers were mobilised while residents were warned to avoid certain areas of the city centre. Metro stations were closed and streets sealed off to limit the spread of the violence.

A surveillance helicopter flew over the city before calm was restored at around 7:00pm (18:00GMT). An AFP journalist saw protesters burning a car, rubbish bins and a number of electric scooters.

“I condemn in the strongest terms the incidents of this afternoon. The police have already firmly intervened. I therefore advise against fans coming to the city centre. The police are doing all they can to maintain public order,” tweeted the mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close.

Britain’s government intends to make it illegal to encourage others to harm themselves online and will fine social media companies that fail to remove such material, as part of a revamp of legislation governing online behaviour.

Promoting su***de is already illegal, but Britain’s digital, culture, media and sports ministry said in a statement that it now wanted to require social media firms to block a wider range of content.

“Social media firms can no longer remain silent bystanders … and they’ll face fines for allowing this abusive and destructive behaviour to continue on their platforms under our laws,” Digital Secretary Michelle Donelan said.

The Conservative government said the proposals aimed to block images and videos similar to those viewed by Molly Russell, a 14-year-old whose death in 2017 sparked ongoing public concern.

In September, the coroner investigating her death ruled that social media platforms had fed content to her that “romanticised acts of self-harm by young people”.

In the case of most bizarre theft, robbers dug a tunnel to steal a train engine brought for repair in the Indian state of Bihar.

You might have heard stories of unique thefts, but these robbers dug a long tunnel near the premises of railway yard and stole an entire train engine.

According to police, the thieves started taking parts off of the engine that was brought for repair and piece by piece the entire engine was stolen.

The thieves had dug a tunnel to the railroad yard; through it, they carried the locomotive parts and other items in sacks.

The police have arrested three suspects so far and on the information, they provided during the interrogation the train engine was found in pieces in the nearby district.

Last year, a railway engineer at Samastipur Loco Diesel Shed was suspended after he allegedly sold off an old steam engine kept at the Purnea Court premises.

Days before the much-anticipated Test series between Pakistan and England, the Green Shirts’ top-order batter Azhar Ali was struck by a ball while practising at the Islamabad Club on Saturday.

Fortunately, Ali avoided any injury and took part in the remaining training session of the day. The ball struck Ali’s head when pacer Haris Rauf was bowling a delivery.

Pakistan’s next international assignment is the three-match Test series against England on home soil starting next month.

Speaking ahead of the series, Rauf said that he is keen on making his Test debut against England.

“It is a dream for every player to wear a Test cap. I have been with the Pakistan team for quite a while and If I get the chance to make my debut in the upcoming series, I will try to execute whatever I have learned from my seniors,” he said.

The England team will arrive in Pakistan on November 27 for the much-anticipated tour, with the first Test set to take place in Rawalpindi on December 1.

This will be the first time England will play a Test in Rawalpindi, which has previously staged 12 matches with the home side winning five and losing three.

The second Test moves to Multan starting on Friday (December 9), and the final Test of the tour will take place at the National Stadium in Karachi, commencing on Saturday (December 17).

A Beijing court has sentenced the Chinese-born Canadian pop star Kris Wu to 13 years in jail after finding him guilty of crimes including r**e, just over a year after his arrest in China, where he was born and built a lucrative career.

The court in Chaoyang district said investigations showed that from November to December 2020, Wu, also known as Wu Yifan, r**ed three women.

“Wu Yifan took advantage of three drunken women … at his home,” the court said on its official WeChat account.

A former member of the K-pop group Exo, the superstar returned to China in 2014 to pursue a solo career.

The head of Brazil’s electoral court has rejected an attempt by outgoing president Jair Bolsonaro’s party to overturn the results of October’s run-off election, which he lost.

Alexandre de Moraes, a supreme court justice, also fined the parties in Bolsonaro’s coalition 22.9m reais ($4.3m) for what the court described as bad faith litigation.

Bolsonaro had challenged the Brazilian presidential election he lost last month to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, arguing votes from some machines should be invalidated.
His coalition said its audit of the 30 October second-round runoff between Bolsonaro and Lula had found “signs of irreparable … malfunction” in some electronic voting machines.

Iranian security forces on Thursday arrested one of the country’s most famous footballers, accusing him of spreading propaganda against the Islamic republic and seeking to undermine the national World Cup team.

Voria Ghafouri, a former member of the national football team and once a captain of the Tehran club Esteghlal, has been outspoken in his defence of Iranian Kurds, telling the government on social media to stop killing Kurdish people. He has previously been detained for criticising the former Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif.

Iran are due to play Wales on Friday. The Iranian team has already been embroiled in controversy after failing to sing the national anthem before its game against England, and Ghafouri’s arrest is likely to be seen as a warning to the players not to repeat their protests.

The Squid Game actor O Yeong-su has been charged with sexual misconduct, South Korea’s prosecutor said.

The 78-year-old in January became the first South Korean to win a Golden Globe award for best supporting actor in a series for his performance as a seemingly vulnerable old man in the mega-hit Netflix dystopian thriller.

According to local reports, the South Korean prosecution indicted him without detention on Thursday for allegedly improperly touching a woman’s body in 2017.

He has denied the allegation, local media report.

Everything reported by local media on O “is not factually incorrect”, an official from the Suwon district prosecutor’s office told AFP, without giving further details.

Pakistan Railways on Sunday received the first 46 out of 230 new high-speed passenger coaches from China.

The new rail coaches reached Karachi port and will be transported to Lahore by the Karachi-Lahore main line-1 by end of this month, the authorities said.

Pakistan and China’s CRRC Tangshan Locomotive & Rolling Stock Company inked an agreement in November 2021 for the supply of 230 high-speed coaches to Pakistan Railways as part of a plan to upgrade and enhance long-distance passenger services in the country.

Bizarre as it may sound, the Mathura police have claimed that rats ate up over 500 kilograms of ma*****na.

According to a report submitted by Mathura police to a special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (1985) court, rats “ate” over 500 kg of ma*****na, confiscated and stored in the warehouses of Shergarh and Highway police stations.

Earlier this year, the court had asked Mathura police to produce the ma*****na recovered in a case registered under the NDPS Act.

The additional district judge has ordered SSP Mathura Abhishek Yadav to get rid of the ‘mice menace’ and then deliver proof that rats actually consumed 581 kg of ma*****na worth Rs 6 million.

The officers told the judge that mice and rats, though small in size, do not fear the police.
