In July 2025, a 12–14-year-old student named Farhan died after alleged prolonged torture by teachers at an unregistered madrasah in Chaliyar, Khwazakhela (Swat, KP). Police sealed the seminary and arrested multiple suspects, including the head; searches continued for others. Authorities returned remaining students to their families.
