The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has again urged Pakistan to impose an additional tax of around Rs 600 billion and set up an anti-corruption task force.

Private TV Express News has claimed with reference to sources that Nathan Porter, the mission chief of the fund in Pakistan, presented the demand for an increase in taxes during the recent talks in Washington. The IMF has also placed half a dozen other conditions before the Pakistani authorities.

One of the options given by the IMF was to impose a sales tax on petroleum products, but Finance Minister Ishaq Dar did not accept any demand related to the tax. At that time, the government imposed a levy of Rs 47.50 per liter on petrol and Rs 7.58 on diesel. Levy is being collected per litre.

The IMF has also urged Pakistan to notify the anti-corruption task force, which the government agreed to in June this year.

General Headquarters of Pakistan Army (GHQ) has written a letter to the Government of Pakistan regarding the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif.

In the letter written by GHQ to the Government of Pakistan, it has been asked that a full investigation should be conducted into the case of Arshad Sharif's death.

In a letter written to the Government of Pakistan, GHQ requested to form a commission on Arshad Sharif's case.

In the letter, GHQ has requested that strict action be taken against those who blame the matter on the institutions.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has decided to conduct an investigation into the death of journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya.

Federal Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said in a statement issued in this regard that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to investigate the death of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.

She further says that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has decided to conduct a judicial inquiry headed by a High Court judge.

Maryam Aurangzeb has also told that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken this decision to determine the real facts of late Arshad Sharif's death.
