Safe Drive Save Life Campaign Launched in Gilgit-Baltistan
In an effort to address the increasing traffic accidents in Gilgit-Baltistan, students from the Department of Mass Communication at Karakoram International University (KIU) have initiated a campaign in collaboration with Gilgit-Baltistan Police, NHA, Cooperative Bank, and SCO. The campaign, titled "Safe Drive Save Life," aims to raise awareness about safe driving practices and promote road safety in the region.
On the first day of the campaign, students along with local law enforcement personnel, conducted awareness drives at various locations across Gilgit city. They focused on educating drivers about the importance of safe driving and distributed free helmets to motorcyclists who were riding without proper headgear. The police also checked drivers' licenses and ensured that tourist vehicles had valid maintenance certificates.
The primary objective of the campaign is to create a sense of responsibility and awareness among the general public regarding traffic laws in Gilgit-Baltistan. By instilling safe driving habits and encouraging compliance with traffic regulations, the campaign aims to reduce the number of traffic accidents in the region.
Speaking about the campaign, the organizers emphasized the need for collective efforts to address the rising concerns of road safety. They urged both locals and tourists to adhere to traffic rules, maintain their vehicles, and prioritize safety at all times. The Safe Drive Save Life campaign is expected to continue in the coming days, with various educational activities and awareness programs planned to reach a wider audience across the region.
The local authorities, including the Gilgit-Baltistan Police, NHA, Cooperative Bank, and SCO, have shown their support for this initiative and have pledged to collaborate further to ensure the success of the campaign. They have also encouraged other educational institutions and civil society organizations to join hands in this noble cause to make Gilgit-Baltistan's roads safer for everyone.
As the campaign gains momentum, it is hoped that its positive impact will lead to a significant reduction in traffic accidents, ultimately creating a safer environment for all commuters in Gilgit-Baltistan.
