Gojal Residents Demand Equal Power Distribution, Warn Against Regional Disparity

HUNZA, Gilgit-Baltistan | August 3, 2026: Residents of Gojal have voiced growing concern over prolonged electricity shortages, urging authorities and NPak Energy to ensure fair and equal power distribution across Hunza.

Community members said they would not accept a situation in which Gojal continues to face extended power outages while electricity supply is prioritized in Central Hunza. They stressed that all parts of the region deserve equal access to power, particularly during periods of limited generation.

According to local residents, many areas of Gojal are currently experiencing severe electricity shortages, affecting daily life, businesses, education and essential services. They called on NPak Energy to adopt a transparent and equitable load management policy that treats every community fairly.

Residents warned that if the current imbalance in electricity distribution continues, they will be compelled to reconsider their support for NPak Energy and may explore further options to have their concerns addressed.

GILGIT | August 3, 2026: The Karakoram Highway (KKH) has been reopened for all types of traffic at Goner Farm near Konodas, after authorities successfully cleared debris caused by a rain-triggered landslide.

According to a spokesperson for Gilgit-Baltistan Police, the affected section within the jurisdiction of Goner Farm Police Station was restored following prompt clearance operations, allowing normal traffic to resume in both directions.

Police have advised all travelers to exercise caution while driving, as intermittent rainfall and unstable slopes may continue to pose risks in some areas.

NPAK Energy Announces August 2026 Load Management Schedule for Central and Lower Hunza

HUNZA | August 3, 2026: NPAK Energy Limited has released its August 2026 load management schedule for consumers in Central Hunza and Lower Hunza, outlining rotating power supply hours and expected daytime electricity availability supported by local solar plants.

According to the company Central Hunza will follow a rotating power schedule from 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM, while daytime electricity is expected to be available for five to six hours, depending on weather conditions and solar generation.

In Lower Hunza, the rotating schedule will operate from 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM with local solar facilities expected to provide 10 to 12 hours of electricity during the day, subject to favorable weather.

NPAK Energy stated that the published schedule is dependent on the operational status of its power plants with solar generation playing a key role in supporting daytime demand across the network.

The company also acknowledged that unforeseen technical faults and recent flooding could occasionally affect the announced schedule. It expressed regret for any inconvenience and thanked consumers for their patience and cooperation as efforts continue to maintain a stable electricity supply.
