A Morning in Lahore.

ریگستان میں ہم دھوپ سے چمکتی ہوئی
ریت کو، پانی سمجھ کر بھاگتے ہیں
تڑپتے ہیں، اس کی طرف دوڑتے ہیں اور پھر، اسی سے دھوکا کھا جاتے ہیں؟

تب ہی ان دو طرح کے لوگوں میں سے، ایک سے ملاقات ہوتی ہے ہماری۔

وہی سیانے لوگ، جو اس ریت کو پانی سمجھنے کی غلطی نہیں کرتے۔
اس کی پیاس میں تڑپ کر، اس کی طرف بھاگا نہیں کرتے۔
لیکن سچ تو یہ ہے کہ۔۔۔
جو دھوکا نہیں کھاتے، جو بھاگتے نہیں۔۔
انہی کی پیاس میں کوئی کمی ہو گی، کوئی شدت ایسی، جس کی غیر موجودگی ہوگی۔۔

تم وہ دوسرے ہو، جسے پیاس مبارک ہے، جس کی شدت باقی ہے۔۔۔
تم فریب میں آ جاتے ہو اور پھر خودفریبی میں گر جاتے ہو!
آؤ اس پیاس کی بات کرتے ہیں جو کسی دن مجھے اس جل تک پہنچا دے۔۔
حد کو پہنچا دیگی
