This rare and beautiful owl is mainly found in Haleji Lake and its surrounding wetlands. These birds migrate from countries like Central Asia and northern regions, and they come here because of the availability of sweet water, which provides food and shelter. Sindh’s diverse and suitable environment makes it a perfect habitat, so thousands of birds arrive here every year. Known for its silence, intelligence, and keen observation skills, this owl hunts at night and lives in safe areas, making it an important indicator of environmental health. Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated Pakistan’s first Mangrove Biodiversity Park at Korangi Creek, a unique floating park established in collaboration with the Sindh Forest Department. The park aims to protect mangroves, raise environmental awareness, and involve civil society and the business community in conservation efforts.

Designed by Shah Murad Aliani and architect Tariq Alexander Qaiser, it features eco-friendly pathways, a floating education center, and uses 80% recycled materials. Home to over 72 bird species, mudskippers, and fiddler crabs, the park combines education with biodiversity preservation. Another mangrove park near KPT is planned.

Suffocation Point: Who is Accountable for the Air Pakistan’s Children Breathe?

As winter sets in, the air in Pakistan’s cities turns heavy with smog — making it hard to breathe, especially for children. Doctors warn that fluctuating temperatures, toxic emissions, and poor air quality are driving respiratory illnesses to dangerous levels.

🚨 “Air pollution, dust particles, and vehicle emissions are major culprits,” says Dr. Arsalan from Sindh Employees Social Security Institution.

When will clean air become every child’s right — not a privilege? 💭
