کہا جاتا ہے کہ جحا ایک دن ایک بادشاہ کے دربار میں بیٹھا ہوا تھا۔ بادشاہ نے جحا سے مذاق کرنے کے ارادے سے پوچھا، "کیا تم میرے گدھے کو پڑھنا لکھنا سکھا سکتے ہو؟"

جحا کی غیرت کو جوش آیا اور اس نے فخریہ انداز میں جواب دیا، "ہاں، میں سکھا سکتا ہوں، لیکن مجھے اس کام کے لیے دس سال کا وقت دینا ہوگا۔" بادشاہ نے خوشی سے اس شرط کو مان لیا اور اس مدت کے دوران جحا کے لیے ایک خاص وظیفہ مقرر کر دیا۔

جب جحا دربار سے باہر نکلا، تو ایک دوست نے قریب آ کر کہا، "اے بے وقوف! تم نے کیسے اس مشکل کام کے لیے ہاں کر دی؟ تم کیسے ایک گدھے کو پڑھنا لکھنا سکھا سکتے ہو؟"

جحا نے مسکراتے ہوئے جواب دیا، "اے میرے دوست! ان دس سالوں میں یا تو میں مر جاؤں گا، یا بادشاہ مر جائے گا، یا پھر گدھا مر جائے گا۔ تو بتاؤ، ہم میں سے بے وقوف کون ہے، تم یا میں؟"

یہ کہانی جحا کی حاضر دماغی اور عقل مندی کی خوبصورت مثال ہے، جو ظاہر کرتی ہے کہ کبھی کبھی سمجھداری اور دانشمندی حالات کو اپنے حق میں بدلنے کے لیے بہترین حربہ ہوتا ہے۔
