Pakistan witnessed yet another heartbreaking tragedy today at PIMS Hospital Islamabad, a facility considered one of the country's leading hospitals.
According to reports, a fire broke out in the nursery ward, where newborn babies are kept, allegedly due to an electrical short circuit. The incident has reportedly claimed the lives of 14 innocent infants.
Some people may dismiss this as an unfortunate accident. But the real question is: why did it happen in the first place?
If there were electrical issues or safety concerns within the hospital, why were they not identified and addressed through proper inspections, maintenance, and safety protocols? Hospitals, especially critical areas such as nursery wards, must adhere to the highest safety standards because lives depend on them.
This tragedy demands a thorough and transparent investigation. If negligence, mismanagement, or failure to maintain safety standards is found, those responsible must be held accountable. The families who have lost their children deserve answers, justice, and assurance that such a disaster will never happen again.
My deepest condolences go out to the affected families during this unimaginable time.
