Shahid Afridi urges Babar Azam to step down as T20 Captain

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has urged the all-format captain, Babar Azam, to step down as T20I captain and focus on his batting.

Afridi also said that Pakistan has other options in Shadab Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shan Masood, all of whom could lead the T20I team.

Speaking to the media, Afridi said, “Babar Azam should quit the T20I captaincy and focus on his batting. We have other players who can lead the T20I team, like Shadab, Rizwan, and even Shan.”

After a bad performance in the T20 World Cup 2022, where he scored 124 runs in seven innings with an average of 17.71, the focus has been on Babar Azam’s personal contribution to the team.

It’s important to note that Babar Azam led the Men in Green to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in 2021, the finals of the Asia Cup in 2022, and the finals of the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Babar is also Pakistan’s most successful T20I team captain, having won 40 of 66 games, or 65.57 percent. Pakistan skipper also moved up to third place in the T20I batting rankings.

Red Zone sealed ahead of PTI protest against ECP

After the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced to stage a protest against the Election Commission of Pakistan today, Islamabad's district administration sealed the red zone and placed containers at the entry points of the federal capital.

On Monday, Chairperson PTI Imran Khan had announced a protest and called on his supporters to gather outside of the ECP headquarters in Islamabad on Thursday, demanding Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja’s resignation.

According to sources, entry into the red zone is banned for protesters and all unconcerned people. Personnel of the law-enforcement agencies including anti-riot force, Rangers, the FC and police will be deployed around the red zone.

Entry into the red zone will be allowed only through Margalla Road.

During an exclusive interview with a private TV channel yesterday, Imran Khan alleged that the electoral body was not bringing forward the funding of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

"We will go to the Supreme Judicial Council of Pakistan against the Election Commissioner as he has insulted us by calling us the foreign-funded," he said.

"We will also protest peacefully in front of the Election Commission's premises."

"We will not go to Redzone," he clarified.

Rana Sanaullah warns PTI
Addressing a press conference along with Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah warned PTI of strict action against those who try to enter the Red Zone.

“PTI wants to spread chaos in the name of the protest,” the interior minister said, revealing that the coalition government has "received reports" and has found statements of Khan and Fawad Chaudhry regarding their plans of creating an anarchic situation outside the election commission.

He said that they [PTI] can attack the election commission; however, they should remember that the Islamabad High Court has imposed restrictions on staging protests in the Red Zone.

The police issued a challan when the motorcycle ran out of petrol

Sometimes the petrol runs out while driving the bike, so the citizens fill up the petrol and move towards the destination, but if a citizen gets a challan when the petrol is low, this has never happened.

However , in the Indian state of Kerala , a citizen named Basil Syam was challaned by a traffic official even though his motorcycle was running low on petrol.

The affected citizen shared the photo of the e-challan issued by the traffic police which went viral.

According to the citizen, he was going to the office when a traffic official stopped him and asked him to pay 250 rupees as a challan.

Syam said that I paid the money in a hurry but when I reached the office and saw the receipt of the challan, I was shocked because my challan was issued due to traveling when the petrol was low in my motorcycle.

According to Indian media, there is no provision in the Indian Motor Vehicle Act or the state law that prohibits a citizen from driving a vehicle with insufficient fuel.

The only fuel-related provision mentioned in the Kerala Transport Act is that if a passenger vehicle runs out of fuel before reaching its destination, the driver or its owner has to pay a fine of Rs 250.

After the picture of the said challan went viral on social media, the traffic police is being criticized by the users.
