Sindh has witnessed a significant surge in malaria cases following recent monsoon rains.

According to the provincial health department spokesperson, from January to August 25, a total of 116,828 malaria cases were reported across the province, including 1,200 cases from Karachi.

Karachi’s Malir District recorded the highest number of cases with 432 patients.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Division emerged as the most affected, with 50,499 cases, followed by Larkana Division (33,333), Sukkur Division (9,263), Mirpurkhas Division (8,943), and Shaheed Benazirabad Division (13,590 cases).

The health department also confirmed three cases of cerebral malaria this year, all reported from Hyderabad.

In a tragic incident in Lahore’s Johar Town, two young girls lost their lives after eating toxic food from a local restaurant.

According to police, the family had purchased food from the eatery on the night of August 16. Soon after, 6-year-old Tahreem and 4-year-old Arha fell critically ill. Both children were rushed to the hospital but could not survive.

Good news for travelers from Balochistan to Iran: a direct air service between Quetta and Iran has officially begun.

Iran Air’s inaugural flight departed from Quetta for Zahedan, carrying 75 passengers. According to airport officials, the airline will operate once a week from Quetta.

Local government by-elections are being held today in seven districts of Balochistan, including Zhob, Sherani, Loralai, Barkhan, Kalat, Khuzdar, and Surab.
