Israeli forces detained the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Abbasi, on Monday evening, according to Palestinian sources.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported, citing local sources, that Israeli forces arrested Sheikh Al-Abbasi from within the mosque compound without providing any reason. Just hours before the arrest, Israeli authorities had imposed a one-week ban on his entry into Al-Aqsa Mosque ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Palestinian group Hamas condemned the detention on Tuesday, describing it as interference in the affairs of the mosque. Hamas accused Israeli authorities of restricting worshippers and imposing limitations on Ramadan preparations.

It is worth noting that the first fast in the Palestinian territories began today, and large numbers of worshippers gathered at Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday night to perform Taraweeh prayers.

According to the Met Office, a new spell of westerly winds is expected to enter the western regions of the country tonight and is likely to affect the upper parts of Pakistan until Monday.
During this period, rain is expected in Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Murree, and the Galiyat, while snowfall is likely in hilly areas.

Bangladesh’s first female prime minister, Khaleda Zia, has died in a Dhaka hospital after a prolonged illness, her party and local media say.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said Zia passed away at 6am local time. She was 80.

“Our beloved national leader is no longer with us. She left us at 6am today,” the party said in a Facebook post.

The 814th Urs of the great Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti has begun at Ajmer Sharif, with a large number of devotees arriving from different parts of the country to pay homage at the revered shrine.
According to officials, more than 30,000 pilgrims are currently staying in Ajmer. An area spread over more than 150 bighas has been transformed into a temporary city to accommodate the visitors, where activities continue around the clock.
Adil, Assistant Administrator of the Dargah Committee, said the district administration, the Dargah Committee and various departments are working together to ensure that pilgrims face no difficulties. He said arrangements have been made for accommodation, food, drinking water, electricity, sanitation and medical facilities.

From Washington and London to Paris, Moscow and Dubai, streets and public spaces have been adorned with colourful lights as worshippers gathered in churches for Christmas prayers marking the birth of Jesus Christ.
In Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended Christmas greetings to the Christian community, praising its role as a peaceful, active and constructive part of the country’s society.
In his message, the prime minister said he prayed that Christmas would bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Christian community and to Pakistan as a whole. He described the occasion as a reminder of the values of love, tolerance, goodwill and harmony for all humanity.
Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to the Christian community’s contributions to Pakistan’s social and economic development, highlighting their sacrifices alongside the nation in the fight against terrorism.

Security forces successfully thwarted a major terrorist attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Nokkundi, Chagai district, during the night between Sunday and Monday. According to officials, three militants were killed, while a search and clearance operation is ongoing.

An FC South spokesperson said a group of terrorists initiated the assault with a su***de blast at the main gate of the headquarters. Following the explosion, at least six armed militants attempted to enter the camp.

The FC’s Quick Response Force acted immediately, engaging the attackers and killing them before they could breach the facility.

Eyewitnesses and local sources reported intense gunfire and multiple explosions during the operation. However, FC personnel swiftly gained control of the situation, completely foiling the attack.

Peshawar police say a su***de explosion occurred on Monday at the main gate of the Federal Constabulary building, resulting in the deaths of three security personnel, while two attackers were killed.

According to reports, the assault began when one bomber detonated himself at the gate. Two additional attackers then entered the building, where they were killed after a 15–20 minute gunfight with security forces.

Police officials said the attackers were equipped with modern weapons and were carrying hand grenades. A clearance operation is currently underway inside the building.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office has urged Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other Indian leaders to refrain from issuing statements that could endanger regional peace and stability.

In a strongly worded statement, the Foreign Office said the Indian government would be better served by focusing on protecting its own citizens—particularly vulnerable minority communities. It added that New Delhi must hold accountable those who incite or participate in violence against minorities and should avoid rhetoric rooted in religious prejudice or historical distortion.

The statement further noted that the people of India’s northeastern region continue to face systemic marginalization, identity-based persecution, and state-backed violence—issues that urgently require attention.

Pakistan reiterated its call for India to take credible steps toward a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

A special and informative session was held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in connection with World Children’s Day, organized with the support of UNICEF. Students from various private educational institutions participated enthusiastically, while children with special needs also showcased their talents through dialogues and performances, earning heartfelt appreciation from the audience.

As part of the event, female students conducted a symbolic assembly session in the Jirga Hall, following complete parliamentary procedure similar to government and opposition benches. Students took on the roles of Speaker, ministers, opposition members, and other key parliamentary positions, gaining hands-on experience in legislation and assembly proceedings.

A massive blaze in Japan has reduced more than 170 buildings to ashes, marking the country’s largest urban fire in five decades. The fire broke out Tuesday evening in the coastal town of Saganoseki, prompting a major emergency response involving military units and firefighting helicopters. Thick smoke was visible from several kilometers away.

Authorities report that nearly 49,000 square meters of land — roughly equivalent to seven football fields — has been burned. Dozens of residents were forced to evacuate to safer areas, and one fatality has been confirmed. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

This is the most destructive urban fire in Japan since 1976. A similar incident in 2016 destroyed 147 buildings, though no deaths were reported in that event.

Afghanistan’s national carrier, Ariana Afghan Airlines, has slashed its cargo rates to India by 50% following directives from the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. Under the new policy, the airline will now charge just $1 per kilogram for goods flown from Afghanistan to India, compared to the previous $2 per kilogram. Cargo arriving from India will be charged 80 cents per kilogram.

Ariana Airlines President Barakat Rahman Sharafat said the revised rates will greatly benefit Afghan traders, particularly exporters of fruits, saffron, carpets, gemstones, and other key products. He added that the discount applies exclusively to the India route, reflecting the strengthening ties between the two countries.

The decision comes after Taliban authorities urged traders to reduce dependence on Pakistan and seek alternative markets and routes. Afghanistan has since been increasing its commercial reliance on Iran as well.
