Does ICC really favour India?
The straight answer is yes. Whoever denies this is just blind because even an Indian commentator Sanjay Manjrekar said that ICC has favoured India so who are you to say no?
I’ll explain how and why ICC favours India.
Taking this World Cup for example, In the group stage ICC already fixed teams for Super 8 groups(Such as India will qualify as A1,Pakistan as A2, South Africa as D1 and Sri Lanka as D2)
So even if India finished the group as runner-up then India would still qualify as group champions and play in Group 1 in Super 8. Now you can say that every team got a fixed group not only India. So how ICC favoured India here? ICC fixed India’s opponents Aus,NZL,SL. Yes Aus & NZL are very strong teams but Sri Lanka is a below average team you must admit. On the Other hand Group 2 was fixed as Pakistan,South Africa, England and West Indies. Yes Group 1 is not easy but it’s easier compared to Group 2. This is how ICC favoured India in the Group Stage.
ICC also already fixed India’s Semi Final venue as Guyana. Even if India had finished as Group Runner-Up India would have still played their Semi at Guyana. We all know that Guyana has spin friendly pitches and these type of pitches suits India very well and we literally saw how Indian spinners dominated there.
Why ICC is doing it? It is because their maximum earning comes from India. So if India gets disqualified early then they will earn less. Their aim is to earn money not to help India. For example, India played their every match at BD time 8:30pm. Which is morning time in local time. Which is difficult for the Cricketers but that will earn more money for ICC as people are comfortable watching night games rather than day games. So maximum Indian people will be able to watch it.
Now the question is that if ICC favours India this much why don’t they give India an ICC trophy? I have already answered it. ICC wants money nothing else. So they try to take India as deep as possible their aim is not to make India win, they don’t care whoever wins.
