A Son of Fort Abbas — Beacon of Hope in Flood Tragedy

Natural disasters, whenever they occur, bring along countless sorrows, deprivations, and helplessness. The recent floods proved to be no less than a severe trial, displacing thousands of families and wiping away the light of hope from their faces. In such testing moments, if someone rises to become a source of support, they are no longer just an individual—they become a symbol of resilience and a beacon of light.

From the soil of Fort Abbas in District Bahawalnagar emerged such a figure—Hafiz Amir Hamza Rafiq. When people lost the shelter over their heads and the dreams of tomorrow, he, with his dedicated companions, wrote a shining chapter of humanitarian service, one that the entire region can proudly claim.

Whether it was the distribution of ration, the establishment of tent villages, bringing smiles back to the faces of innocent children, or ensuring medical assistance for the sick and injured—every effort reflected a collective struggle driven by sincerity. This is a story of compassion and determination that will be remembered as a model for future generations.

Hafiz Amir Hamza Rafiq proved that true leadership is not confined to words or positions but is defined by standing with the people in their hardest times, sharing their sorrows, and healing their wounds. His selfless service has not only raised the name of Fort Abbas but has also become a source of pride for the entire District Bahawalnagar.

Wheat Control in Bahawalnagar — A New Challenge

By Special Correspondent

In Bahawalnagar district, the latest directives issued by Assistant Commissioner Irj Ali Haider Gondal mark a significant step toward curbing wheat hoarding and illegal transportation. Acting as the focal person for food control, he has ordered the immediate activation of all check posts to ensure that no truck, tractor-trolley, or wheat-loaded vehicle leaves the district without proper registration and official permission.

This decision comes at a time when the flour market is experiencing unusual fluctuations in prices. If the hard-earned wheat cultivated by farmers falls into the hands of hoarders, not only do ordinary citizens face inflation, but government subsidies and policies also lose their impact.

It is worth noting that in recent years, wheat smuggling and illegal stockpiling have evolved into a full-fledged mafia, creating difficulties even for local flour mills. In an agricultural district like Bahawalnagar, where thousands of acres are under wheat cultivation, any lapse in control could have serious consequences.

The real question now is how effectively these strict directives will be enforced. Will the check posts prove to be mere paperwork, or will they play a truly decisive role? Both farmers and the public are watching the administration closely. If the policy is implemented successfully, not only will flour prices stabilize, but a strong message will also be sent to hoarders: the old game is over.

New Rift in Modi’s India — Biharis and Punjabis Face Off

New Delhi (Monitoring Desk) — Narendra Modi’s failed policies have further deepened internal divisions within India. In Punjab, strong backlash against Bihari laborers has turned the situation tense. Reports indicate that a large number of Bihari families have been forced to migrate from Ludhiana station, while Sikh communities have staged protests against the growing Bihari population.

Punjabi citizens argue that priority in employment and language should be given to locals. Experts state that this situation exposes the reality behind Modi’s slogans of “Akhand Bharat” and “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, where Hindu extremism is now transforming into provincial conflicts.

Jalalpur Pirwala Faces Imminent Flood Threat, Motorway M5 Breached

Multan (Special Correspondent): Rising waters of the Sutlej River have placed Jalalpur Pirwala under serious threat, with nearly 12 kilometers of land along Motorway M5 submerged. A section of the motorway has already given way, while several other stretches remain under extreme pressure. Authorities fear that if another breach occurs, Jalalpur city—located barely 1.5 kilometers away—could face widespread devastation.

The local administration is grappling with urgent challenges, including safeguarding the city, protecting the motorway from further collapse, and relocating thousands of residents to safer ground.

Federal Minister Rana Qasim Noon, along with local legislators Nazak Kareem Lang and Lal Muhammad Joiya, has issued an alert urging families to evacuate women and children to secure locations within the next two days as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Irrigation Department have been tasked with submitting a final assessment report by Thursday. The report will determine the structural viability of the motorway. Officials have indicated that, if necessary, a controlled breach may be carried out at a designated point to minimize damage to populated areas.

Land Mafia and Children’s Playgrounds
✍️ (Columnist)

In the suburban village of 287 HR, Fort Abbas, the school’s playground has fallen prey to the land mafia. It is heartbreaking that where children once played cricket, ran around, and laughed freely, now a few influential individuals have laid their claim.

The villagers, school staff, and school council have raised their voices. They knock from door to door—sometimes at the Assistant Commissioner’s office, sometimes at the Education Department—yet the problem remains unresolved. The fear is that if silence prevails today, tomorrow the entire ground will be swallowed up.

The question is: where are our public representatives? MNA Ijaz-ul-Haq Sahib, MPA Chaudhry Kashif Naveed Pansota Sahib—this is your constituency, your responsibility. If even in your presence the land mafia manages to usurp a school playground, then where should the public turn for help?

Playgrounds are not just patches of land; they are symbols of children’s dreams, energy, and healthy activities. Societies that deprive their children of playgrounds breed mental stress, disorder, and despair.

Now the decision rests with the authorities. Will this encroachment be removed, or will another school playground be buried in dust? The public waits, and the children still hold their bats and balls, dreaming of an open field.

Pakistan beat Oman by 93 runs after electing to bat first in their opening Twenty20 International (T20I) encounter of the men’s Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai on Friday.

The Green Shirts will face India next on Sunday — the arch-rivals will clash in a geopolitically-charged contest in Dubai. It will be the first cricket match between the sides since four days of military conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbours in May.

Player of the match Mohammad Haris top-scored with 66 of 43 deliveries after being sent at his preferred position of one down for a change after a string of failures down the order in the tri-series.

Oman restricted the Pakistani batters to 160-7 after the Green Shirts were 85-1 at the halfway mark of the first innings.
