General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani is known as the philosopher General. He has been also called as the thinking general. It is true that during his tenure as COAS Pakistan Army made substantial gains when it came to clearing territory from militants, some analysts claim around 18,000 Square KM. This area was cleared during the Operations Rah E Raast of SWAT valley and Operation Rah E Nijaat of South Waziristan. These were two landmark operations conducted by the Pakistan Army.
General Raheel Sharif was a “warrior General”. During his tenure Pakistan Army moved into North Waziristan and destroyed and disrupted Terrorist base of operations. TTP was not only deprived of its command and training bases also the Terrorist cells in the urban areas of the country were disrupted. General Raheel’s tenure saw a significant drop in terrorism, hence he is credited to have been the one who destroyed TTP. However, it is the COAS legacy, that led to defeating terrorism.
With the change of command, General Qamar Javed Bajwa is the new COAS. It is still too early to compare his tenure with his predecessors. However, from what we can see until now is the continuation of policy, that is, Ruthless and indiscriminate action against all terrorist outfits. On the eastern front, tensions along the LoC are still there but Pakistan Army has managed to silence the enemy guns, effective engaging Indian Army. Moreover, Pakistan has made landmark achievements in Strategic Weapons Productions now that nuclear triad is complete with the test of Babur-3 SLBM.
All of these achievements under the command of General Bajwa. Civil Military relations are also on the rise, as both are seen working together with goodwill, something that is strengthening democracy. General Bajwa has struck the perfect balance of engaging the enemies of Pakistan with full force while creating peace and harmony within the institutions. Pakistan is becoming stronger and the Army is boosting it’s capabilities, to defend the country whenever the time comes. We are hoping that General Bajwa leaves the legacy of eliminating terror from the country.

China resumes production of Yuan-class submarines....
Images posted on Chinese on-line forums in December show three new Yuan-class (Type 039B) patrol submarines being fitted out in the water at the Wuchang Shipyard in Wuhan, central China: a clear indication that China has resumed production of these diesel-electric boats after a near-three-year hiatus. The latest of the three submarines appears to have been launched around 12 December, according to on line forums. The initial variant of the Yuan class (Type 039A) entered service in 2006. Overall length is 77 m with a beam of 8.4 m, displacing around 2,700 tonnes when on the surface and 3,600 tonnes when dived, according toIHS Jane's Fighting Ships.Equipped with six 533 mm (21 inch) torpedo tubes, weapon loads are likely Tobe a mix of anti-ship missiles, such as the YJ-82, and heavyweight torpedoes, such as the Yu-6.
Although not officially confirmed, most sources believe that the Yuan class has a conventional diesel-electric configuration supplemented with an air-independent propulsion (AIP) system. The performance of the AIP is unknown but it should be expected to extend the interval between when the submarine has to run the diesel engines to charge the batteries from hours to days. This will enable it to maintain a minimal noise signature and thus makes it more difficult to detect. The hulls of the Yuan class are clad with anechoic tiles, to minimize any return echoes when pinged by active sonars.
Establishing an accurate picture of the number of submarines built for China's People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) presents some difficulties. The PLAN is more secretive about its submarine force than about other platforms and the absence of pennant numbers in most photographs makes identification and monitoring the build/disposal program susceptible to errors. Most sources agree, however, that the first four Yuan-class submarines were of the same design (Type 039A) and entered service between 2006 and 2010.
