Although with time many different models and methods have been formulated in order to address the poverty issues in these countries but unfortunately the problems of dwelling fall for under privileged people have become a serious issue and it has been seen rising since the start. Faisal ghuman shaheed road is one of the major intersecting road between Cantonment and DHA phase 1. Moving from south to north side of the road all the commercial activities can be seen and moving from north to south side of the road there are housing colonies, a main school and a huge park also. WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE MEASURES THAT CAN UPLIFT SLUMS? CASE STUDY OF CHARAR PIND VILLAGE IN DHA LAHORE.

Slums are in every city but there is no way that they can settle them in areas which does not make them secure. Relocating and resettling the slums is not the solution to upgrading their living standards. Yet, they need safe spaces, clean drinking water, healthy surroundings, and a way to earn which can help them make their own life and living better.
One such slum area is present in the heart of the city. It is known as ‘Charar Pind’. However, being a slum area, it lies in the center of the poshest and most exquisite community which is ‘DHA’. The biggest reason for increasing urbanization is the housing backlog which is common globally. Due to the massive rural migration to the urban cities, there is a lack of advanced technologies in those sectors. According to the 2011 census of Pakistan, urbanization level reached up to 36.2. Moreover, against the population of 186 million, there were 21.7 million houses. Comparing Pakistan with other countries, it is still developing. Furthermore, Pakistan does have many loopholes and gaps when it comes to the effective implementation of laws and policies to strengthen the housing sector. Hence, this paper is to explore the National Housing Policy of Pakistan established in 2001 and find out the possible recommendations that can help enhance and improve the housing sector of Pakistan.
