CLARITY Act read this before you trade the headline.
There’s a lot of noise around today’s vote, but here’s what most people are missing:
Today is NOT the vote that passes CLARITY.
It’s a procedural vote to decide whether the Senate moves forward and formally begins debating the bill.
If it clears, the real work is still ahead amendments, negotiations, and the bigger fights around DeFi liability, Section 604, yield provisions, and the ethics language.
So don’t confuse “the bill is moving forward” with “the bill has passed.”
That being said, my personal view is that CLARITY eventually gets through. I believe we’ll see the headlines confirming its passage it’s more a question of how we get there and what changes are made along the way.
A successful vote today would be constructive for crypto, but I wouldn’t expect the market to react as if the entire process is already finished.
The headline is today.
