Scientists at MIT have observed the exact instant a human egg is fertilized, now referred to as a true biological "second zero".

According to the research, right after fertilization, organized biochemical waves, not chaotic reactions, travel across the egg, signaling activation.

These waves follow rhythmic, ordered patterns. Researchers compared them to the same mathematical proportions found in galaxies, seashells, and plants (similar to Fibonacci sequences)

It’s a powerful reminder that the universe's most complex patterns are mirrored at the most fundamental levels of biology.

A senior female faculty member at COMSATS University Islamabad raised concerns over the presence of the Director General ISPR during his visit to the campus, remarking that in her four decades of academic experience, she had never witnessed a serving military spokesperson addressing a university audience.

According to eyewitnesses, the question drew a visibly irritated response from the DG ISPR, who replied sharply and reportedly made remarks about former prime minister Imran Khan that many attendees found inappropriate, creating an atmosphere of discomfort in the hall.

Pakistani YouTuber Ducky Bhai (Saad Ur Rehman) has returned online after a 100-day disappearance from social media.

One of Pakistan’s biggest digital creators, Ducky has posted a comeback message announcing that he’s “taking to social media” to break his silence.

With over five million subscribers and a major footprint in Pakistan’s creator economy, his return comes after weeks of speculation surrounding his FIA-related case, which saw him detained and his assets reportedly frozen. His next updates are expected to shed light on what actually happened.

Bilal Bin Saqib has stepped down as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on blockchain and cryptocurrency, the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) confirmed on Tuesday.

He will, however, continue in his key role as Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) — the federal body overseeing the country’s virtual assets landscape. PVARA operates autonomously under a multi-stakeholder board that includes the State Bank governor, the SECP chairman and the FBR chairman.

The authority’s mandate spans consumer protection, illicit finance safeguards, fintech growth, streamlined remittances, tokenised assets, and the development of Shariah-compliant digital innovation through regulatory sandboxes.

Ever feel like your social feeds are engineered to make you furious? Turns out, there’s a word for that — and it just won big.

Oxford University Press has named “rage bait” its 2025 Word of the Year. The term captures a growing category of online content built specifically to provoke anger and spike engagement. According to OUP, usage of “rage bait” has tripled over the past year as more people recognize how algorithmic manipulation shapes what they see.

It beat out fellow shortlist contenders “aura farming” and “biohack.”
Previous winners include brain rot (2024), vax (2021), climate emergency (2019), and selfie (2013).

In other words: the internet’s business model keeps evolving — and now there’s a word that perfectly sums up what it’s doing to our attention.

"Little Einstein" has just completed a PhD in quantum physics at the age of 15!

Laurent Simons, a Belgian prodigy often called “Little Einstein”, has moved through education at a pace almost no one else has matched. He began primary school at four, finished by six, and earned a master’s degree in quantum physics at twelve, diving into bosons, black holes, and the mathematics behind the universe’s most complex systems.

This week, he completed his doctorate at the University of Antwerp, becoming one of the youngest physics PhDs in modern history. His research builds on concepts most students reach in their late twenties, but for Laurent the motivation is deeply personal. After losing his grandparents at age eleven, he set his sights on understanding how to extend human life.

With an IQ of 145 and an exceptional memory, he has already attracted interest from major tech companies in the US and China — offers his parents have declined to ensure he develops at a healthy pace.

Laurent isn’t the youngest PhD ever, but in contemporary physics his achievement stands in rare company. And now, at fifteen, he’s preparing to pivot toward medical science, aiming to contribute to the fast-moving field of longevity research.

During the recent Lahore Book Fair, reportedly only 35 books were sold while 2,000+ food items flew off the stalls, including 1,200 shawarmas and 800 biryani plates.

Book fairs in Pakistan are starting to look more like food festivals and the numbers are deeply concerning for a nation suffering from a brain drain and unemployment crisis.

Are people drifting away from books, or are we redesigning book fairs into everything but books?
