Pakistan’s Education Spending is on a Decline
Pakistan’s share of education in total government spending has dropped to 8.34% in 2023, continuing a worrying trend. Here’s a quick look at the past four years:
2023: 8.34% (↓ 1.06% from 2022)
2022: 9.40% (↑ 1.59% from 2021)
2021: 7.82% (↓ 2.98% from 2020)
2020: 10.80% (↓ 0.8% from 2019)
These figures represent total government spending on education, including current, capital, and transfer expenditures, relative to all sectors like health, social protection, and infrastructure. This includes both domestic and international funding and covers local, regional, and federal levels.
