Distinguished delegation comprising leading members of the legal fraternity and public representatives, paid a call on the Chairman, Press Council of Pakistan, Mr. M. Arshad Khan Jadoon, where they were briefed on the Council’s recent initiatives, ongoing reforms, and its vital role in promoting ethical journalism and media accountability. The delegation comprises MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan, cabinet members of the Islamabad Bar Association, Islamabad High Court Bar Association, Mr. Adil Aziz Qazi (Member, Islamabad Bar Council; Former Vice Chairman, IBC), Mr. Aleem Abbasi (Former Vice Chairman, Islamabad Bar Council), Mr. Wajid Ali Gilani (President, Islamabad High Court Bar Association), Mr. Aleem Boto (General Secretary, Islamabad Bar Association), along with Law Officers: Deputy Attorney General Fazal ur Rehman Niazi, Deputy Attorney General Mian Faisal Irfan, Assistant Attorney General Barrister Usman Ghuman, and Deputy Attorney General Arshad Mehmood Kiyani.

On the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, a special program was organized at the Islamabad High Court where Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal delivered a keynote address. Chairman Press Council of Pakistan, M. Arshad Khan Jadoon, was also present as an invited guest.

یومِ تکبیر کے موقع پر اسلام آباد ہائی کورٹ میں ایک خصوصی تقریب کا انعقاد کیا گیا، جس میں وفاقی وزیر احسن اقبال نے کلیدی خطاب کیا۔ چیئرمین پریس کونسل آف پاکستان، جناب ارشد خان جدون کو بھی بطور مہمانِ خصوصی مدعو کیا گیا۔

Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sardar Yaqoob Nasir and MNA Syed Hafeez Uddin paid a courtesy call on Mr. M. Arshad Khan Jadoon, Chairman of the Press Council of Pakistan (P*P), at his office. The honorable MNAs inquired about the Chairman’s health following his recent open-heart surgery and extended their heartfelt wishes for his swift recovery. During the meeting, the Chairman also briefed the MNAs on the vital role and ongoing initiatives of the P*P in upholding media ethics, countering fake news, and ensuring press freedom in Pakistan. The members appreciated his unwavering dedication towards P*P despite health challenges.

رکن قومی اسمبلی سردار یعقوب ناصر اور رکن قومی اسمبلی سید حفیظ الدین نے چیئرمین پریس کونسل آف پاکستان، جناب ارشد خان جدون سے ان کے دفتر میں ملاقات کی۔ معزز اراکینِ اسمبلی نے حالیہ اوپن ہارٹ سرجری کے بعد چیئرمین کی صحت کے متعلق دریافت کیا اور ان کی جلد صحت یابی کے لیے نیک تمناؤں کا اظہار کیا۔ ملاقات کے دوران چیئرمین نے معزز اراکین کو پریس کونسل آف پاکستان کے کردار، میڈیا اخلاقیات، جعلی خبروں کے خلاف اقدامات اور آزادی صحافت کو یقینی بنانے کے لیے جاری اقدامات سے متعلق تفصیلی بریفنگ بھی دی۔ اراکین اسمبلی نے ان کی پی سی پی کے لیے خدمات اور عزم کو سراہا۔

The 20th General Council Meeting of the Press Council of Pakistan (P*P) was convened on 6th May in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Mr. M. Arshad Khan Jadoon. During the session, honorable members of the Council engaged in thoughtful deliberations on matters pertaining to the role, responsibilities, and operational scope of the Press Council. A key highlight of the meeting was the collective expression of concern regarding the limitations and challenges surrounding the official domain of the P*P. The Council emphasized the urgent need for structural reforms and enhanced support to ensure the effective ex*****on of its mandate to uphold press freedom and media ethics in Pakistan.

پریس کونسل آف پاکستان کا 20واں جنرل کونسل اجلاس مورخہ 6 مئی کو اسلام آباد میں چیئرمین جناب محمد ارشد خان جدون کی صدارت میں منعقد ہوا۔ اجلاس میں معزز اراکین نے پریس کونسل کے کردار، ذمہ داریوں اور دائرۂ کار سے متعلق اہم امور پر تفصیلی غور و خوض کیا۔ اجلاس کا ایک نمایاں پہلو کونسل کے اراکین کی جانب سے پریس کونسل کے سرکاری دائرۂ اختیار سے متعلق خدشات کا اظہار تھا۔ اراکین نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ ادارے کی مؤثر کارکردگی اور صحافتی اقدار و آزادی کے تحفظ کے لیے اس کے ڈھانچے میں اصلاحات اور ضروری معاونت کی فوری ضرورت ہے۔

A delegation from France’s FP92 Channel, led by Chief Executive Mr. Hamza Taj, visited the Press Council of Pakistan (P*P), where they were briefed on the Council’s pivotal role in promoting ethical journalism, combating fake news, and safeguarding press freedom in Pakistan. The delegation also inquired about the health of Chairman P*P, Mr. Arshad Khan Jadoon, following his recent open-heart surgery. Secretary General of Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO, Mr. Aftab Muhammad Khan, was also present during the meeting.

فرانس کے ایف پی 92 چینل کے وفد نے چیف ایگزیکٹو حمزہ تاج کی قیادت میں پریس کونسل آف پاکستان کا دورہ کیا، جہاں انہیں میڈیا اخلاقیات کے فروغ، جعلی خبروں کے خلاف اقدامات اور آزادی صحافت کے تحفظ میں پریس کونسل کے کلیدی کردار پر بریفنگ دی گئی۔ وفد نے چیئرمین پریس کونسل جناب ارشد خان جدون کی حالیہ اوپن ہارٹ سرجری کے بعد ان کی صحت کے بارے میں بھی دریافت کیا۔ پاکستان نیشنل کمیشن برائے یونیسکو کے سیکرٹری جنرل جناب آفتاب محمد خان بھی اس موقع پر موجود تھے۔

پریس کونسل آف پاکستان (P*P) کے انٹرنیز کو عدالتی شعبے کے کام کرنے کے طریقہ کار اور ذمہ داریوں پر ایک تفصیلی لیکچر دیا گیا۔ اس سیشن میں شعبے کے اہم کردار پر روشنی ڈالی گئی، جس میں میڈیا سے متعلق تنازعات کے حل، اخلاقی ضابطوں پر عملدرآمد کو یقینی بنانے اور صحافتی آزادی کے تحفظ کے لیے قانونی فریم ورک کا جائزہ پیش کیا گیا۔ اس انٹرایکٹو سیشن کا مقصد انٹرنیز کی قانونی نظام اور ان عملوں کے بارے میں سمجھ کو بہتر بنانا تھا جو پاکستان میں اخلاقی صحافت کو فروغ دیتے ہیں۔

A comprehensive lecture was delivered to the interns of the Press Council of Pakistan (P*P) on the Ethical Code of Practice in Journalism. The session focused on fostering awareness about responsible reporting, the importance of truth and accuracy, and adhering to journalistic ethics to uphold the integrity of the media. Interns were also briefed on the monitoring mechanisms and the significance of ethical journalism in combating misinformation.

پریس کونسل آف پاکستان (پی سی پی) کے انٹرنز کو صحافت میں اخلاقی ضابطۂ عمل پر تفصیلی لیکچر دیا گیا۔ اس سیشن میں ذمہ دارانہ رپورٹنگ، سچائی اور درستگی کی اہمیت، اور صحافتی اخلاقیات پر عمل کرنے کے بارے میں آگاہی فراہم کی گئی تاکہ میڈیا کی ساکھ کو برقرار رکھا جا سکے۔ انٹرنز کو مانیٹرنگ کے طریقہ کار اور گمراہ کن معلومات کے خلاف جنگ میں اخلاقی صحافت کی اہمیت پر بھی بریفنگ دی گئی۔
