To support smoother and safer travel, the federal government has approved direct flights from Quetta for pilgrims heading to Iran and Iraq during Arbaeen, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif announced in the National Assembly.

The move comes amid concerns over security risks along the 800-kilometre land route through Balochistan. Asif confirmed that one flight has already taken off, and more daily flights are being planned with the involvement of both private and chartered airlines.

This step aims to provide convenient, safe, and timely travel for pilgrims, following coordination with Iran and local aviation authorities. The government reiterated its commitment to facilitating religious travel without compromising security or comfort.
