Electric carmaker Fisker has filed for bankruptcy, citing inflationary pressures and production challenges as the primary reasons. The company is in advanced discussions with financial stakeholders regarding the sale of its assets. Fisker has faced significant financial difficulties for months, leading to the halt of its Ocean model production, launched in 2022. Valued at $2.9 billion when it went public in 2020, Fisker struggled with delays in parts, labor issues, and high inflation. Founder Henrik Fisker noted these challenges significantly impacted the company in 2023. This move comes as US carmakers face fierce competition from Chinese producers, with Tesla announcing substantial job cuts.

At least 562 pilgrims, including 307 Egyptians, have died due to soaring temperatures, sometimes exceeding 51°C (124°F). The harsh conditions have highlighted the growing impact of climate change on religious practices. Scientists warn that the situation will worsen, with future Hajj seasons potentially coinciding with Saudi Arabia's peak summer heat. Despite efforts to mitigate heat risks, the unprecedented temperatures have raised concerns about the safety of millions of pilgrims in the coming decades.
