Pakistan’s loss-making state-owned enterprises (SOEs) recorded combined losses of Rs342.8 billion during the first half of fiscal year 2025-26, highlighting the financial challenges facing underperforming public entities.
​According to a Cabinet Committee review, the government provided Rs804 billion in support to SOEs during July-December 2025, while profitable entities generated Rs423.3 billion in earnings.
​Despite the heavy losses and government assistance, SOEs contributed Rs839 billion to the government, resulting in a net positive fiscal flow of Rs35 billion. Authorities stressed the need for stronger governance, financial discipline, operational efficiency and reforms to reduce dependence on public funds.

Saudi Arabia’s air defenses interce_pted and dest_royed a dr_one launched by Yemen’s Houthi forces before it could enter Makkah’s airspace, Coali_tion For_ces spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki said.

According to Al-Malki, the dro_ne was intercepted south of Makkah and marked the second reported attempt to target the holy city.

He accused the Houthis of seeking to create fear among Muslim pilgrims visiting Makkah.

Al-Malki also cited a previous alleg_ed attempt to target Makkah with a ba_llistic mis_sile in July 2017.
