The smartphone market has always been dominated by Apple and Samsung, and in 2025 the rivalry is sharper than ever. Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max is already official, while Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is still in the leak and rumor phase, but early reports give us a solid idea of what to expect.
Comparing them side by side highlights their strengths and the trade-offs buyers must consider.
Starting with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Apple has refined its design language. It carries a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 3,000 nits, making it one of the brightest displays in the industry.
The body features a unibody aluminum frame and Ceramic Shield 2, improving durability.
Inside, the phone is powered by Apple’s A19 Pro chip, paired with up to 12GB of RAM. Performance is smooth, efficient, and highly optimized for iOS 26, which introduces new AI features, better battery optimization, and more ecosystem integration.
Apple has also updated its cameras: three 48-megapixel lenses (wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto). While not chasing megapixel counts, Apple leans on computational photography and consistency.
Video recording remains industry-leading, with cinematic modes, Dolby Vision HDR, and reliable stabilization.
Battery
The battery has grown to around 5,088 mAh, offering all-day life, though charging speeds remain modest compared to rivals, with USB-C wired charging and MagSafe/Qi2 wireless.
