The novel "The Lion's Marriage" - Part One:
The events began when Tariq entered to his daughter Hour, angry. Hour asked him in surprise: "So, Dad, do you want to marry me off for money?" Tariq could not bear that response, so he slapped her hard, saying sharply: "You didn't raise me well? This decision is final, and you will get married, I mean you will get married!" Hour left for her room, fighting back her tears, followed by the voice of her stepmother, Asala, calling her: "Hour, my love, get ready; we have guests tonight." Hour answered in a low voice: "Yes, Ms. Asala." As soon as Asala left the room, Hour spoke to herself with resentment: "I thought that my marriage would be the beginning of my comfort, not this disaster!"
As time passed, Asala came again to warn Hour to get ready, and said: "Come on, get ready, I don't want any mistakes from you," and Hour replied: "Okay." At the same time, Asad's father, Mohammed, was talking to his son to convince him to marry Hour, his niece. Asad seemed hesitant, and said in a firm voice: "Dad, how can I marry Hour?! She is ten years younger than me!" Mohammed replied: "What's wrong with Hour? Age isn't everything." But Asad insisted on his refusal, commenting that he didn't want to get married, especially since she hadn't been a part of his life for a long time.
