Sindh Transport Minister Shahrjeel Inam Memon Thursday presided over a meeting to review arrangements regarding the construction work and purchase of buses for Karachi’s Yellow Line BRT project, sources reported.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Department officials.

During the meeting, the Sindh minister directed the transport department to complete working on BRT project. He also ordered to extend the scope of the project by increasing buses for the upcoming bus line.

Sharjeel Memon also asked officials to begin process for procurement of buses for bus rapid project.

It is impossible to establish the exact cost to Qatar of the forthcoming FIFA World Cup. It is already certain that it is the most expensive of any World Cup held since the first in 1930. By some estimates, its cost may even be more than the previous 21 combined.

According to a variety of experts and reports, the costs will exceed $200 billion (€199 billion) and could go even higher. To put that in context, the most expensive World Cups previously were the 2014 tournament in Brazil and the 2018 edition in Russia, wich both cost less than $15 billion.

Dan Plumley, a lecturer in sports finance at Sheffield Hallam University, says that already when Qatar was chosen as the 2022 host back in 2010, early estimates cited the potential cost at $65 billion.

The estimated cost of Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup is $220 billion. The historic tournament’s most costly edition is expected to be this one.

Regional Director World Bank for Sustainable Development John A Roome on Wednesday said that the bank would provide financial support of $1.3 billion to Pakistan for an emergency, agriculture and housing relief.

According to an official statement, the regional director WB said this during a meeting with Minister for National Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir and apprised him about the board meeting in December.

He said that the bank will also provide financial support to floods and rains-affected farmers of Pakistan by providing them subsidised urea.

Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Bashir Cheema said that floods and rains had resulted in colossal losses for the farming community and the government was trying to provide relief and assistance to the poor farmers for their rehabilitation.

Indus Motor Company (IMC) has increased the prices of some of its various variants by up to 7 Lacs.

In a recent hike, the automaker has increased the vehicle prices of the Toyota Corolla, its most selling four-wheeler, and the 4X4 pickup truck Toyota Revo, .

A notification shared by the company said the prices were revised in wake of economic uncertainties and inflation in raw material cost, the vendor cost of production.

It further cited uncertainties in forex fluctuations, surge in utilities, and overheads that impacted the cost of manufacturing amid unprecedented inflation.

The price of the Corolla 1.6 CVT, has been increased by Rs. 190,000 to Rs 4,979,000 while the price of the Corolla 1.6 CVT (Special Edition) variant has been hiked by Rs. 200,000. The new price of the Special Edition is Rs. 5,279,000

Toyota Hilux has seen an increase of Rs. 620,000 as its new price is Rs. 9,069,000, this variant was previously sold at Rs. 8,449,000.

Pakistan ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan included among nine players, shortlisted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the Player of the Tournament award.

According to the details, the ICC shortlisted nine exceptional performers from Pakistan, India, England, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Shadab and Shaheen are the joint-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan (10) in the ongoing tournament. Both players won a player of the match award each in the mega event thus far.

Pakistan's captain in all three formats, Babar Azam left Karachi Kings and joined Peshawar Zalmi, owners of both franchises confirmed on Twitter.

Taking to Twitter, Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi confirmed that Babar has joined his franchise for the upcoming eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Earlier, Kings' owner bid farewell to Babar who remained with them for the last six years.

"I am so glad that you were part of the Karachi Kings family for six seasons. Thank you and all the very best Babar Azam. Bus ab Karachi ke against cover drives na maarna," Kings' owner wrote.

Warning of a difficult gas shortfall-hit winter ahead, the Secretary Petroleum has said that domestic consumers will face daily gas outages of 16 hours during the season.

This time, winter is quite difficult regarding gas availability and gas will be given only three times to domestic consumers during cooking time, Secretary Petroleum Division Muhammad Mahmood said while briefing National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum here Thursday.

The committee, which met with Aamir Talal Gopang in chair, was informed by Secretary Petroleum Division that there is no gas in the country, therefore in the winter season only 8 hours in 24 hours gas will be supplied to the domestic consumers. Secretary Petroleum said that domestic consumers will get gas for three hours in the morning, two hours in the afternoon and three hours in the evening. Muhammad Mahmood said that the country is running out of gas reserves and if the situation continues like this, after ten years, Pakistan will run out of its own gas. Regarding purchasing expensive LNG, Secretary Petroleum said that they cannot buy expensive LNG and sell it cheaper.
