A client called me and my team “Pakistani scammers” last week.

His crime? Getting a resume done by us in 2025 and still not landing a job.

Let that sink in.

Not “the market’s tough.” Not “I’ve only applied to 5 jobs.” Not “maybe I need to network more.”

Straight to: scammer. Because of where I’m from.

So let’s talk about what a resume actually is and what it isn’t.

A resume is not a job offer. It’s a door opener.

→ It gets you past the ATS filter
→ It gets a recruiter to stop scrolling for 6 seconds
→ It gets you the interview

What happens after that? That’s on you.

Here’s what actually determines whether you get hired:

→ How many jobs you’re applying to (5 a month won’t cut it)
→ Where you’re applying (are you even in the right pool?)
→ How fast you apply (48 hours or you’re buried)
→ Whether you’re networking or just spraying applications into a void
→ How you show up in interviews
→ Whether you’re tailoring each application or sending the same resume everywhere
→ Your actual skill-market fit, which no resume can manufacture

A resume can’t fix a job search you’re not actually doing.

So here’s what NOT to expect if you hire me and then do nothing:

✗ A resume is not a magic wand
✗ I can’t apply to jobs for you
✗ I can’t build your network for you
✗ I can’t walk into your interviews for you
✗ I can’t make recruiters remember you if you never follow up

I can build you a document that gets you seen. The rest of the job search? That’s a full-time job in itself, and it’s yours to run.

And to the client who called us scammers because of our passport:

I won’t pretend that comment didn’t sting. But it also confirmed something, some people would rather blame an accent, a passport, or a name than take a hard look at their own job search. That’s not on us. That’s on them.

To everyone else job hunting right now, a great resume is step one of ten. Don’t stop at step one and blame the door for not walking through it.

Mom life update 🍼🤍

I was terrified and excited in the same breath.
I didn’t feel an instant rush of love, it grew slowly, and that’s okay.
My meals are cold by the time I actually get to eat them.
I brush my teeth and wash my face somewhere in the afternoon now.
I’ve forgotten what a full night’s sleep even feels like.
My phone keeps buzzing with messages I’ll answer... eventually.
I’ve become forgetful & stronger than I’ve ever been in life.
I’ve become second to everything, my baby comes first, always.
I feel guilty for wanting five minutes alone.
I didn’t know what I was doing, and I still don’t, half the time.
Nobody prepared me for how lonely those first weeks would feel.
Still I fall in love with my baby a hundred times over, one small moment at a time.

If you’ve ever felt any of this, guess you’re not alone, and you’re not failing. You’re just becoming.
