The Government of Pakistan has decided to stop the implementation of its newly announced solar policy following widespread public backlash and concerns raised by industry stakeholders. The policy had triggered criticism over proposed regulatory changes and pricing mechanisms.

Consumers, solar panel installers, and renewable energy advocates argued that the new framework could discourage investment in solar adoption and increase financial burden on existing users. Social media campaigns and industry statements intensified pressure on authorities.

Officials have now indicated that the policy will be reviewed and revised after consultations with stakeholders. The move signals the government’s willingness to reconsider reforms amid growing demand for affordable and sustainable energy solutions in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister has called for the formation of a new international cricket governing body, criticising the International Cricket Council (ICC) for what he described as political bias. He alleged that the ICC no longer operates independently.

The minister claimed the ICC has effectively become an “Indian political board,” accusing it of prioritising Indian interests over fairness and equal treatment of all member nations. He said such practices damage the spirit of the game.

The statement has sparked debate across the cricketing world, with analysts warning that politicisation of sports governance could further divide international cricket and harm its global credibility.

The Pakistan Navy has launched its fourth Hangor-class submarine, PNS Ghazi, at a shipyard in China, marking another milestone in the country’s naval modernization programme. The submarine is part of an eight-boat project aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s maritime deterrence.

Hangor-class submarines are equipped with advanced stealth features, modern sensors, and long-range strike capabilities, significantly boosting Pakistan Navy’s undersea warfare strength. The project reflects deep defence cooperation between Pakistan and China.

Naval officials say the induction of PNS Ghazi will further strengthen Pakistan’s ability to safeguard sea lines of communication and maintain strategic balance in the region. The remaining submarines will be inducted in phases over the coming years.

Another frightening incident occurred in Karachi when a young girl fell into an open manhole, but quick action from people nearby prevented a tragedy. Witnesses rushed forward, pulled the girl out within seconds, and ensured she was safe before authorities arrived.

The incident once again exposes the alarming state of Karachi’s civic infrastructure. Open manholes remain a life-threatening danger for children and pedestrians, with similar cases reported repeatedly in various neighbourhoods. Citizens say these “near-misses” are entirely preventable, if the city administration acts responsibly.

Residents are demanding urgent measures, including immediate covering of all open manholes and strict accountability for negligence. As videos of such incidents continue going viral, public outrage is growing, raising questions about when Karachi will finally become safe for its people.

Event organisers for Dubai Airshow 2025 have confirmed that Israeli defence companies will not participate in the exhibition. Six such firms had been registered initially, but a “technical review” by the technical committee led to their exclusion.

Timothy Hawes, Managing Director of Informa Markets, explained that all participating companies are subject to this review, and that the decision came after careful assessment. He highlighted that defence remains a major component of the show, even without the Israeli firms.

The Dubai Airshow will feature participation from 98 countries and over 20 national pavilions, showcasing both commercial and defence displays. The absence of Israeli firms marks a notable shift, reflective of regional sensitivities tied to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Although the Global Sumud Flotilla could not reach Ga_za, it created an unexpected opening for P@lestin!ans. While Isr*eli forces intercepted the aid boats, the diversion allowed Ga_za’s fishermen to venture into the sea despite the strict blockade.

For months, P@lest!n!ans had been forbidden from fishing freely, with the blockade limiting their access to essential livelihood. During the distraction, however, local fishermen were able to cast their nets and return with one of the largest catches seen in years.

Observers describe this as a symbolic yet powerful success of the flotilla. Even though the aid mission was stopped, it broke the blockade in an unimaginable way by enabling Ga_za’s people to reclaim, even briefly, their right to the sea.

The Isr@eli navy has detained more than 450 international activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla after intercepting nearly all boats in international waters. The convoy was carrying humanitarian aid and volunteers aiming to break the Ga_za blockade.

Activists are being held at Ashdod Port, where Isr@eli authorities plan to deport them to Europe. Among those detained are prominent campaigners, lawmakers, and citizens from dozens of countries. This has triggered global protests and diplomatic backlash.

Human rights organizations have condemned the actions as violations of international maritime law. Critics assert that blocking peaceful activism and deporting detained civilians undermines human rights and demands accountability.

After Isr@el intercepted much of the Global Sumud Flotilla, over 45 Turkish civilian vessels have now set sail toward G@za to join the humanitarian mission. The ships carry aid, supporters, and civilians, and the move signals Turkey’s escalating involvement amid global condemnation of the blockade.

Turkish authorities report that several activists aboard the flotilla were detained, phones were jammed, and communications disrupted near zones Isr@el claims as under its naval jurisdiction. Turkey says it is closely monitoring the safety of its vessels and citizens while demanding adherence to international maritime law.

The inclusion of Turkish ships brings renewed scrutiny to the legality and risks of breaking Isr_ael’s maritime blockade. The flotilla’s advance, despite interceptions, is seen by many as a symbol of resistance and solidarity with civilians in Ga_za.

President Gustavo Petro of Colombia has ordered the expulsion of all Isr@eli diplomatic personnel remaining in Colombia following the interception of a Ga_za-bound aid flotilla and the detention of two Colombian activists said to be sailing in international waters as part of the flotilla.

Petro described the acts as “a new international crime” committed by Isr@eli Prime Minister Benja*min Netan*yahu, and demanded the immediate release of the activists, while invoking Colombia’s foreign ministry and calling on the Isra_eli justice system to respond.

In a further escalation, Colombia immediately terminated its Free-Trade Agreement with Isr_ael, in force since 2020. The move signals deepening diplomatic rupture and marks one of Latin America’s strongest condemnations of recent Isr@eli actions.
