Umerkot: Key Meeting Reviews Muharram 1448 AH Security and Administrative Arrangements

A high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Umerkot, Naveed ur Rehman Lark, was held to review security, law and order, and administrative arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH.

The meeting, held at the Deputy Commissioner Office Umerkot, was attended by officials from the district administration, police, Pakistan Army, Rangers, municipal institutions, and religious scholars representing various schools of thought.

Participants reviewed security plans for processions and religious gatherings, along with arrangements for sanitation, electricity, drinking water, and medical facilities. Deputy Commissioner Naveed ur Rehman Lark directed all concerned departments to complete preparations on time and ensure close coordination among institutions to maintain peace and public safety during Muharram.

All departments assured the district administration of their full cooperation in implementing the planned arrangements.

Shikarpur Administration Cracks Down on Non-Custom Paid Ci******es, Large Quantity Seized

Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur Shakeel Ahmed Abro, Assistant Mukhtiarkar Agha Naseem Pathan, along with his team, carried out raids in various parts of the city against the sale of non-custom paid ci******es.

During the operation, officials raided a shop and recovered a large quantity of non-custom paid ci******es, which were confiscated on the spot.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Mukhtiarkar Agha Naseem Pathan said that inspections and enforcement operations against illegal trade would continue on a daily basis in line with the district administration's directives. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone involved in the sale of non-custom paid goods without discrimination.

Tando Muhammad Khan: Deputy Commissioner Chairs Meeting on Muharram 2026 Arrangements

Deputy Commissioner Tando Muhammad Khan, Dharamoon Bhawani, chaired an important meeting to review arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram 2026.

The meeting was attended by SSP Tando Muhammad Khan Haseeb Javed, representatives of Rangers and law enforcement agencies, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, concerned departmental officers, Shia Ulema Council representatives, JUI members, Dawat-e-Islami representatives, organizers of various religious bodies, and other relevant officials.

Participants reviewed security measures, sanitation, electricity supply, clean drinking water, medical facilities, traffic management, and other arrangements for Muharram processions and religious gatherings.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure maximum facilities for mourners and maintain close coordination for the smooth conduct of Muharram events. He emphasized timely provision of sanitation services, street lighting, drinking water, and other essential facilities along procession routes and at gathering venues.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to work together to maintain peace, security, and effective arrangements throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.

Extreme heat and humidity have created difficult conditions for patients and attendants at the Mother and Child Department of Civil Hospital Sanghar, with complaints about a lack of adequate relief measures.

According to patients and their families, the ongoing heatwave and humid weather have made conditions inside the hospital increasingly uncomfortable, particularly in the Mother and Child Ward, where women and children are reportedly facing severe difficulties.

Attendants claim that despite the rising temperatures, sufficient arrangements have not been made to provide relief to patients. They have urged the hospital administration and health authorities to take immediate steps to improve facilities and ensure a more comfortable environment for those receiving treatment.

Doctors and paramedical staff in Naushahro Feroze staged a protest and boycotted OPD services at the Civil Hospital in solidarity with Lady Doctor Mah Noor Nasir, who was injured in an acid attack in Quetta.

The protest was organized by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) and attended by Dr. Abdul Fatah Rajpar, Dr. Badruddin Abro, Dr. Ghulam Murtaza Sahito, Dr. Bilawal Khanzada, Dr. Sajawal Mashori, Ashraf Qureshi, and other healthcare professionals.

Addressing the gathering, PMA representatives said that an attack on a doctor is an attack on the entire medical community. They stressed that healthcare workers serve patients around the clock and deserve a safe working environment.

The speakers acknowledged reports that the alleged attacker had been killed in a police encounter but emphasized the need for a transparent investigation and stronger security measures for doctors and medical staff in hospitals.

Protest leaders also called on the government to ensure that Dr. Mah Noor Nasir receives the best possible medical treatment under specialist supervision and that all treatment expenses be covered by the provincial government.

They urged the Balochistan Government to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident and implement effective security arrangements in hospitals to prevent similar attacks in the future.

A major development has emerged from Shikarpur’s riverine areas as more than 50 proclaimed offenders and wanted criminals have reportedly surrendered under the Sindh Government’s surrender policy following the ongoing "Nijat Mehran" operation.
According to police officials, continuous operations and pressure on criminal groups in the katcha areas led to the surrender of several notorious suspects belonging to the Teghani, Sabzoi, Bijarani, and other gangs. The surrendered individuals were presented under strict security arrangements at the Headquarters Ground.
During a media briefing, SSP Shikarpur Muhammad Kaleem Malik stated that the surrendered suspects included individuals carrying rewards ranging from Rs. 3 million to Rs. 10 million. Among them were Teghani, Abdul Rehman Teghani, Manzoor Jafri, Muharram Teghani, Waheed Sabzoi, Sultan Bijarani, and other wanted suspects allegedly involved in serious criminal cases.
Police officials said the objective of the surrender policy is to establish lasting peace in the katcha areas, bring criminal elements into the national mainstream, and eliminate crime from the region. Authorities emphasized that all surrendered suspects will face legal proceedings in accordance with the law and that no one will be considered above the law.
The SSP further stated that the "Nijat Mehran" operation will continue until its objectives are achieved and all necessary measures will be taken to restore peace and stability in the area.

Police in Bhiria Road have recovered a 13-year-old girl and arrested a suspect accused of allegedly taking her away under the pretext of marriage.
According to police, SHO Ghulam Murtaza Gorchani took action on the complaint of Ms. Akbari Qureshi, who alleged that her minor daughter, Asiya Qureshi, had been lured away by Hussain Rajpar on the promise of marriage.
During an operation conducted in the Bango Behan area, police recovered the girl and took the suspect into custody. Authorities stated that the girl has been shifted to a safe house for protection and further legal proceedings.
Police further said that the suspect was presented before a court and subsequently sent to jail. The operation was carried out within the jurisdiction of Pakka Chang Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

The recruitment process for various vacant positions in the Social Welfare Department is underway in Sibi, with authorities emphasizing transparency and merit-based selection.
