A few weeks back my film, Buray Phansay, was selected in both, the Grand Film Festival Port Grand Pakistan and Starzplay by Cinepax Short Film Competition. Two events on the same night and in two different cities. I didn’t write anything about it last night because it was too surreal and felt like a dream. Alhamdulilah, Buray Phansay won the first prize at both of these festivals last night. There were over 3000+ submissions in the StarzPlays Film Competition from all over the world. Initially, Buray Phansay made it to the top 10 and then the film was announced as THE WINNER of the festival by Cinepax.
I want to say this yet again that the success of this film was only possible because of my brilliant team. Tuaha, Abid, Narmeen, Saad, Abbas, Mahreen,Hadiqa, Hussain, Zeeshan, Ahad, Pawan & Jibran, Ali you guys are the reason behind all these achievements. Your talent, hard work and sheer determination lead to this very moment.
A huge thank you and shoutout to the entire cast. Even if you played a short role in the film, you became a part of it and equally share this with me. Bilal, Kashif, Aamir, Taha, Bilal, Saif, Arman, Hammad, Hasan, Jibran, Aman, Bilal & Iman, thank you so much for your time, effort and contribution.
Another person I’d like to thank is Salman Khan, who is the father of this story. It was his original idea and without it, I would not have an amazing screenplay which was later turned into one of the best short films of Pakistan.
Thank you Anusha, Iman & Nialish my three idiots who have always believed in me and always pushed me to keep going and not give up.
Not to forget Zohaib Tariq, who went to Port Grand to attend one of the festivals on my behalf, stayed till the very end because he supported me. He believed in my film and knew that it would win and it did. Love you bhaiyaa!
Like I said before, this is just the beginning of a journey filled with many more achievements and success for all of us InshaAllah. Hopefully, I will keep making all of you proud. Thank you everyone for all the support and love. I really appreciate it and I’m so happy to share this success with all of you ❤
It's been 4 months since we first announced the STARZPLAY by Cinepax Short Film Competition. More than 3000 entries from all over the world, constant deliberations and streams later, we've finally found our winning short film.
Give it up for the winning short film of the SSFC! Congratulations to team Buray Phansay for winning the SSFC!!
Also give it up for our runners up Just a Cup of Tea and the entire team behind this amazing short film.
It's been a swell ride and we would like to applaud all the short films that took part in the SSFC. We would like to acknowledge the hard work that goes into conceptualizing a short film and bringing it to life.
Here's to aspiring and established film makers in Pakistan and the rest of the world, and the future of short films.
