Connecting Generations, Reviving History

As part of our ongoing celebrations of Marka e Haq & Youm e Azadi Dawood University's students, faculty, staff, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I) visited Edhi old home, Qasba Colony engaging in an inclusive activity with senior citizens. The intergenerational dialogue was a powerful experience, with elders sharing stories of migration, the 1965 war, and the bravery of our armed forces.

The students were deeply moved by these firsthand accounts, rekindling their passion for Pakistan and appreciation for our heroes. As a token of appreciation, the university presented gifts of Ajrak and Wrist Watches to the senior citizens and distributed meals, fostering a sense of community and gratitude.

Through this initiative, we aim to bridge the gap between generations, preserve our history, and inspire the youth to honor the sacrifices of our armed forces. A heartfelt tribute to our soldiers under the brave leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for the success in Operation Bunyanun Marsoos and unwavering dedication to our nation."

Dawood University Celebrates Marka-e-Haq and Youm-e-Azadi with Differently-Abled Children at Dar ul Sukun

Karachi, Pakistan - Dawood University of Engineering and Technology proudly celebrated the second day of Marka-e-Haq and Youm-e-Azadi by organizing a special event for differently-abled children at Dar-ul-Sukun. The event was hosted by students, faculty, officers, and staff, along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I), at the auditorium of Dar ul Sakoon. Sister Catherine WilsonุŒ In Charge Dar-ul-Sukun, Mr. Savio Pereira, Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Sumaira Fazal, Head of Rehabilitation Department, Mr. Walter James Bornshin, Manager Corporate & Donor Relations received the university delegation.

Over 200 differently-abled children and individuals of various age groups participated in the event, which was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Hindu Council.

To honour interfaith Harmony, event began from recitation of few verses of Holy Quran , Bible & Geeta.
The highlight of the event was a tableau display performed by the differently-abled children, showcasing their talents and abilities. The university students and faculty distributed toys, meals, and other gifts among the children, spreading joy and happiness.

The event concluded with a cultural dance performance and the singing of national songs, paying tribute to the bravery and gallantry of the Pakistan Armed Forces, particularly the Air Force and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The attendees also visited the bedridden childrenโ€™s wards, distributing gifts and spreading love and care to include them in the festivities of Mark-e-Haq and Yaum-e-Azadi.

This event reaffirmed Dawood University's commitment to promoting inclusivity and supporting marginalized segments of society. By celebrating national events with differently-abled individuals, the university aims to foster a sense of belonging and unity among all citizens.

The event was a heartwarming experience, showcasing the spirit of Pakistan and the resilience of its people. Dawood University remains dedicated to organizing such initiatives that promote social responsibility and community spirit to engage with marginalised segments of society.

Karachi: Dawood University of Engineering and Technology conducted its highly anticipated Entry Test 2025 for Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Architecture programs on 20 July 2025. The test was administered by IBA Testing Services Karachi and held simultaneously at three venues: IBA Main Campus, IBA City Campus, and CEMET (Centre for Entrepreneurship, Management and Emerging Technologies) Rohri, Sukkur.

For the first time in Sindh, Dawood University introduced the B.S. Information Security Engineering program with due approval by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) at its Jinnah Campus, attracting strong interest. The Entry test also included futuristic programs with huge job scope such as B.E. Energy & Environment Engineering and B.E. Materials Engineering.

The test was conducted in the morning shift. It covered admissions for DUET's Jinnah Campus, CEMET Sukkur, and the Faculty of Information & Computing Sciences at Gulberg Town, Karachi.

For admission to 1,688 seats across 18 disciplines, 3,677 candidates registered for this yearโ€™s test, with 3,466 appearing โ€” reflecting a 94% turnout. Female applicants accounted for 23.3%, a promising sign of growing gender diversity in STEM education.

Candidates from a wide spectrum of educational backgrounds appeared in test. 1,999 candidates came from the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, while others represented BISE Sukkur (241), Federal Board Islamabad (101), BISE Shaheed Benazirabad (209), BISE Larkana (171), Sindh Board of Technical Education (52), BISE Hyderabad (179), and Aga Khan University Examination Board (41). This wide representation underscores Dawood Universityโ€™s significance as preferred choice of Karachiites for Engineering & Science education.

As with previous years, DUET ensured a well-organized, transparent, and technology-driven testing environment. Facilities included air-conditioned halls, shuttle services, and QR-code based electronic attendance systems. These arrangements reflect the Universityโ€™s ongoing commitment to providing an inclusive, modern, and student-centric experience.

Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I), Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Waheed Bhutto, Registrar Prof. Dr. Syed Asif Ali Shah, and members of the Admission Committee visited various centers to review the arrangements. Director CEMET Prof. Dr. Ghulamullah oversaw the test arrangements at Rohri. Parents and candidates praised the universityโ€™s arrangement and management, underscoring DUETโ€™s dedication to educational excellence.

Vice Chancellor DUET met the officials of Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan at Headquarters in Islamabad
On the invitation of the Chairman of the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan Ambassador (R) Mr. Farukh Amil, Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I), Vice Chancellor Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) Karachi visited IPO-Pakistan headquarters Islamabad, on 15th July 2025.
The purpose of this visit was to share the details of various initiatives taken by DUET related to intellectual property, products development, research funding etc. with the officials of IPO-Pakistan. The Vice Chancellor also guided officials about different forums for joint working by IPO- Pakistan and DUET. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by the Chairman, acknowledging the vision and the untiring efforts of the Vice Chancellor.

Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Karachi hosted Ambassador (R) Mr. Farukh Amil (Chairperson, Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan) accompanied by his team including Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Ahmed (Controller of Patents & Registrar of Designs), Ms. Saima Kanwal (Senior Examiner of Patents and Design), Engr. Rizwan Khan (Senior Examiner of Patents and Design) and Ms. Shams-Un-Nisa (Senior Examiner of Patents and Design). In this visit, Mr. Farukh Amil delivered talk about the importance of intellectual property (IP). He connected IP with economy using different examples in his address to the faculty members and researchers of DUET. He proposed to include an individual course of IP in undergraduate curriculum. During the visit, the guests also witnessed various laboratories and ongoing research projects. In the end, Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I) (Vice Chancellor, DUET) delivered vote of thanks and highly appreciated the worthwhile talk by Chairperson IPO.

Karachi: Officials of the Ra'ana Liaquat Craftsmen's Colony (RLCC), a non-governmental organization, visited Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) Karachi on 7th July 2025 to explore potential collaborative projects. The visit aimed to foster partnerships in sustainable livelihoods and public health initiatives.
Ms. Zareen Rashid (Head of Livelihoods Department, RLCC) and Ms. Sana Farooqui (Head of Health Department, RLCC), were the distinguished guests, welcomed by Dr. Muhammad Faisal Khan (Director ORIC, DUET) and Dr. Faraz Ahmed Shaikh (Director QEC, DUET). Different opportunities of collaboration were discussed. The RLCC officials also met Prof. Dr. Syed Asif Ali (Registrar, DUET). This meeting further reinforced the institutional support for future collaborations. The visit concluded positively, with both organizations expressing a strong interest in formalizing their discussions into concrete action plans.
