The Blue-eyed Ground Dove (Columbina cyanopis), one of the world’s rarest birds, was rediscovered in 2015–2016 after being thought extinct for more than 75 years. Known for its chestnut-brown plumage with white spots and striking cobalt-blue eyes, the bird was found in the dry savanna grasslands of Minas Gerais, Brazil—reviving global hope for its survival.
