REPORT ( ): Today's TORRENTIAL in Karachi smashed all expectations as a whopping 100-200 mm rain fell across the city, most of which was recorded within 3 hours between 2 pm and 5 pm today!
The reliably recorded chief rainfall amounts (mm) from various private sources and PMD since midnight till 5 pm are as follows:

As the joined their heads together (figuratively!!) to analyse what just happened in Karachi today, it is apparent that there was an affect of the (WD), which had also been affecting upper and central parts of the country. This WD along with the advancing from the East Northeast, leading to such massive amounts within Karachi Division! This can be confirmed by the wind direction of NW and North winds recorded on various weather stations during the event.
Typically, the monsoonal during the day are not powerful enough to cause such extreme lightning and rainfall, and the fact that the rest of southern received no significant rainfall during this time is indicative of an unusual mixing of cooler air from the WD in the mid level. This grossly intensified the totals across the city!
