The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has officially released the new schedule for school affiliations and renewal of existing affiliated institutions for the academic year 2025-26. According to the announcement, schools can submit their applications from August 14 to September 12, 2025. New schools must submit the required documents along with a fee of Rs. 25,000, while already affiliated schools renewing their affiliation must pay a fee of Rs. 13,500. The deadline for all submissions is September 15, 2025. No applications will be accepted after this date.

KCCI Chief Slams for Keeping Interest Rate at 11%, Warns of Economic Slowdown

President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, has voiced strong disappointment over the State Bank of Pakistans (SBP) decision to maintain the policy interest rate at an elevated 11 percent, defying widespread expectations of a cut that could have brought the rate down to single digits.

In a statement, Bilwani criticized the SBPs stance, arguing that with core inflation having significantly receded, there is no sound economic justification for keeping borrowing costs prohibitively high. He said that while the SBP cited the uptick in inflation during May and June and concerns about a moderate rise in the coming months due to energy price pressures, this reasoning was neither convincing nor economically sound.

Bilwani emphasized that many regional economies have reduced interest rates despite facing similar or even more complex challenges, highlighting that Indias policy rate is 6.5 percent, Bangladeshs around 8.5 percent, Indonesias 6.25 percent, and Vietnams below 5 percent. He said Pakistans persistently high rates have restricted working capital, increased default risks, and raised the cost of doing business, ultimately hurting the country's export competitiveness.

موٹرسائیکل نمبر پلیٹس کا تنازع

عدالت نے فوری سماعت سے انکار کردیا

سندھ ہائیکورٹ نے موٹرسائیکلوں کی نمبر پلیٹس کی تبدیلی کے خلاف دائر درخواست کی فوری سماعت کی استدعا مسترد کر دی۔ عدالت نے حکم دیا ہے کہ معاملہ عدالتی چھٹیوں کے بعد سنا جائے گا۔

درخواست گزار کے وکیل کا مؤقف تھا کہ یہ ایک فوری نوعیت کا معاملہ ہے کیونکہ ہزاروں موٹرسائیکل سواروں کو روزانہ چالان کیا جا رہا ہے۔ تاہم جسٹس ذوالفقار نے ریمارکس دیے کہ "چند ہزار روپے کے چالان پر چھٹیوں میں کیس کیوں سنا جائے؟ دیگر اہم کیسز بھی زیر التوا ہیں۔"

یہ درخواست ایک سماجی کارکن نے دائر کی ہے جس میں سیکریٹری ایکسائز اینڈ ٹیکسیشن، موٹر وہیکل رجسٹریشن ونگ اور ڈی آئی جی ٹریفک کو فریق بنایا گیا ہے۔

Sindh IG Reviews Safe City Project Progress: Over 540 Cameras Installed Across Karachi
Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired a high-level review meeting at the Central Police Office Karachi to assess the current status, performance, and expansion of surveillance camera installations under the Safe City and other ongoing security projects.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders including the Chief of CPLC, Director General (DG) and Project Director (PD) of the Safe City Project, DIGs of Headquarters, Karachi Traffic Police, Sindh Highway Patrol, SSP Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC), and other senior officers.
During detailed briefings by DG Safe City, DIG Traffic Karachi, DIG Highway Patrol, and PD IT, it was revealed that 542 surveillance cameras have been installed across Karachi. These cameras are currently generating security alerts which have already contributed to actions against vehicles with fake number plates and stolen cars.
As part of the broader response plan, 12 emergency response vehicles and approximately 300 police personnel have been deployed alongside the camera network. The installation of more cameras and deployment of additional vehicles and officers is ongoing.
