Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured a six-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur, successfully chasing 192 with five balls remaining. The win was anchored by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 105 off 60 balls, marking his ninth IPL century and third while chasing.
Kohli’s innings came after two consecutive ducks and ensured RCB completed a 2-0 run in Raipur. The result takes RCB to 16 points and to the top of the table on Net Run Rate. In a 10-team IPL season, no side with 16 points has failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Kolkata Knight Riders posted 192/4 in 20 overs, with Angkrish Raghuvanshi scoring 71 and Rinku Singh finishing on 49 not out. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for RCB with 1-34. In reply, RCB reached 194/4 in 19.1 overs, with Devdutt Padikkal contributing 39. Kartik Tyagi took 3-32 for KKR.
The defeat ends KKR’s four-match winning streak. Even if they win their remaining three home matches, the maximum they can reach is 15 points, leaving their playoff qualification dependent on other results.
