It’s honestly shocking how far things have gone in India.
Recently, the Indian government, under Modi’s leadership, gave the Padma Bhushan, one of the country’s highest civilian awards, to Sadhvi Rithambara. For those who don’t know who she is, let me tell you that she’s known not for peace or unity, but for spreading hatred against Muslims.
This is the same woman who
🔸 Referred to Muslims as “flies” breeding to outnumber Hindus.
🔸 Compared Muslims to “lemons in milk,” claiming they spoil the purity of India.
🔸 Was a key voice during the Babri Masjid demolition, shouting: “Ek dhakka aur do, Babri Masjid tor do” (Give one more push, bring down Babri Masjid).
These aren’t just controversial statements but they were part of speeches that fueled riots, violence, and deep divisions in Indian society. Many lives were lost, families destroyed and now, this same person is being honored by the state?
What does this say about the direction India is heading in? When people who incite hatred are rewarded instead of held accountable, it reflects a government that has no regard for justice or harmony especially when it comes to the rights and safety of its Muslim citizens.
This isn’t just about one woman getting an award, it’s about the normalization of hate. And it should worry every single one of us.
