The Construction Industry Development Board is set to be established to regulate standards and improve quality across Pakistan’s construction sector. A comprehensive reform package is also being considered. Banking hurdles and a proposal for a specialized Construction Development Bank will be discussed with the State Bank and Pakistan Banks Association.

A customs cooperation arrangement has been signed by Pakistan and Hong Kong to strengthen mutual administrative assistance and information exchange. Under the framework, suspected consignments and individuals will be monitored, while support will be provided for enforcing customs laws on both sides. The agreement was signed virtually at the Federal Board of Revenue headquarters. A structured mechanism has now been established to improve customs surveillance, enforcement and coordination between the two administrations.

A section of goods transporters called off its nationwide strike after an agreement was reached with the government. However, major container trailers, trucks and edible oil tankers remained off the roads, prolonging disruption to ports and external trade. Fuel oil tankers withdrew after key demands were accepted by Ogra.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a 15.5% increase in petroleum dealers’ margins to prevent a nationwide strike. The margin on petrol and high-speed diesel will rise by Rs1.34 per litre, increasing from Rs8.64 to Rs9.98 per litre. Following the approval, petroleum dealers called off their protest planned for Saturday. The revised margin will take effect from September 1, providing financial relief to fuel retailers while ensuring uninterrupted petroleum supplies across Pakistan.

Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier, has officially launched operations in Pakistan with the arrival of its inaugural flight RX-660 at Islamabad International Airport. The flight carried 69 passengers and was welcomed with a ceremonial water salute. Seven weekly flights are expected to be operated between Riyadh and Islamabad, strengthening direct connectivity between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. An inauguration ceremony was hosted by the Pakistan Airports Authority and attended by Saudi Ambassador H.E. Nawaf Bin Said Al-Malki, PAA Director General Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed, senior government officials and Riyadh Air executives.
