PMDC E-Kachhari – Key Updates on MDCAT 2025

The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has announced important updates regarding MDCAT 2025 session.

The MDCAT will be conducted at the End of September 2025.

The test will be paper-based.

Candidates will have 3 hours to solve 180 MCQs.

The total number of questions decreased from 200 to 180.

A provisional MDCAT may also be held (further details to be announced).

A revised syllabus will be introduced and is expected to be uploaded by the End of May 2025.

The MDCAT registration portal will open by the End of July 2025. Registration will require the candidate's CNIC/B-Form number (father's CNIC will not be used).

There will be domicile restriction. A student can appear in the MDCAT of same province/admitting university as his/her domicile.

Test will be conducted through admitting universities of provinces. PMDC has prepared a Question Bank for uniformity of test.

MDCAT result is valid for 3 years. The score validity is currently under review in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, and any changes will be updated accordingly.

This year, test center will not be established in Dubai.

Candidates are advised to prepare according to the revised syllabus and plan accordingly.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced a free laptop program for students across the province, vowing to ensure the same distribution percentage as Punjab.

“If Punjab allocates laptops to a specific proportion of students, we will do the same,” Gandapur stated.

He also urged Punjab’s administration to reciprocate by implementing a free health insurance scheme similar to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s.

PM&DC to Decide Fee Structure of Private Medical & Dental Colleges

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) is set to deliberate on the standardization of tuition fees for private medical and dental colleges in its upcoming Council meeting. This decision comes in response to growing public concerns regarding the affordability and accessibility of medical and dental education in Pakistan.
The PM&DC has taken a proactive approach to address these concerns by implementing a structured fee schedule to ensure transparency and fairness in the education sector.

The council aims to prevent excessive tuition charges while maintaining high educational standards in private institutions across the country. PM&DC is committed to ensuring that quality medical and dental education remains accessible to aspiring students. The regulation of fees is a crucial step in maintaining a balance between affordability and sustainability in private medical education.”

In a statement issued by the PM&DC, it was apprised that an emergent Council meeting has been called which will include discussions with stakeholders, including representatives from private medical and dental colleges, education experts, and government officials, to finalize a fair and standardized fee policy. The PM&DC remains dedicated to promoting equitable access to medical education while upholding academic excellence.

Further details and the final decision of the Council meeting will be communicated shortly. PM&DC encourages all concerned parties to stay informed through official channels for updates on this important development.

Earlier in pursuant of the directions passed by the subcommittee of the Senate standing committee on National Health Services Regulations and Coordination meeting. All private medical and dental institutions were directed not to collect fee for session 2024-25 from the students till the final outcome of the committee constituted on medical education by the honorable prime minister of Pakistan and chaired by the deputy prime minister of Pakistan to review and revise tuition fee of private medical and dental institutions of Pakistan. All colleges were directed to comply with the directives and to take necessary steps accordingly.

The Punjab government has set the eligibility criteria for its laptop distribution scheme, aiming to provide digital resources to students across the province. The decision was finalized during a high-level review meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat.

Under the scheme, laptops will initially be distributed to students in their first and second semesters. The eligibility criteria require BS students to have a minimum of 65 percent marks in their intermediate exams, while medical students must have at least 80 percent.

Officials were instructed to expedite the process and finalize dates for the web portal launch, application review, and merit list announcement.

Attention! HEC has sent mails to those students who have got 50 or above marks in HEC test to review their data.
*All correction claims along with documentary evidence must be submitted via email to [email protected] on or before February 18, 2025.
**Claims received after the deadline or through any other channel will not be considered. If no claim is received, it will be assumed that the previously submitted data is correct and final.
***Only applicants who need to correct their submitted data should submit a Correction Claim Form. If your provided data is accurate, no action is required at this stage.
****Eligibility criteria of the advertisement explicitly states that, “Applicants must have acquired the requisite academic qualifications on or before the closing date of the advertisement and Students awaiting result are NOT eligible to apply”. Therefore, applications with improved / retotaled scores after closing date will not be entertained.
