U.S. Embassy Islamabad and Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) marked the kickoff countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026 at a special event in US Embassy Islamabad, celebrating sport, culture, and global partnerships.

The event was attended by Chairman PMYP Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani and Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi along with representatives from U.S. Embassy Islamabad, Pakistan Football Federation and the sports and diplomatic community.

Cricket, unity, and youth empowerment coming together for a greater purpose 🇵🇰

The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, in collaboration with the Shahid Afridi Foundation, is set to organize a special “Bunyan-um-Marsoos” Cricket Match in Islamabad soon to honor the heroes of Bunyan-um-Marsoos.

The match will feature talented young players selected through the Prime Minister’s Youth Talent Hunt alongside renowned celebrities, creating a platform that celebrates resilience, patriotism, and the power of sports to inspire the next generation.

Chairman PMYP Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan congratulated Shahid Afridi on receiving the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his remarkable contributions to cricket, sports, and social welfare.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to engaging youth in positive activities, promoting talent, and strengthening the spirit of unity through sports. 💚

“معرکۂ حق نے دنیا کو یہ حقیقت ثابت کر دی کہ پاکستان امن پسند ملک ہےاور صرف اپنے دفاع کیلئے کھڑا ہوتا ہے۔ جب قوم، قیادت اور افواج ایک صف میں ہوں تو دشمن کی برتری کے دعوے زمین بوس ہو جاتے ہیں۔
فیلڈ مارشل عاصم منیر اور وزیراعظم شہباز شریف کی قیادت میں بروقت فیصلوں، واضح حکمتِ عملی اور مسلح افواج کی غیر معمولی مہارت نے بھارت کے غرور کو عالمی سطح پر خاک میں ملا دیا۔
پاکستان نے ہر فورم پر سچ، شفافیت اور امن کی بات کی، جبکہ دشمن الزامات سے آگے ایک ثبوت بھی نہ دے سکا۔
معرکہ حق دنیا کیلئے پیغام تھا:
پاکستان کو کمزور سمجھنے کی غلطی نہ کی جائے، ہم اپنے دفاع کیلئے ہر وقت تیار ہیں۔”
