Chairman of the PFF Normalization Committee (NC), Haroon Malik, held a productive meeting with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, His Excellency Nawaf Bin Said Al-Malki, in Islamabad to discuss collaborative efforts to enhance football standards in both nations.

During the meeting, the two leaders appreciated the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Haroon Malik and the President of the Saudi Football Federation, Yasser Al Misehal, in Saudi Arabia, which will prove a game-changer in Pakistan football.

Sources reveal that Babar Azam, who recently stepped down from the captaincy, is keen on rejuvenating both physically and mentally. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appears to have overridden his request, compelling the star batsman to participate in the forthcoming series.

Pakistan's newly-appointed team director, Mohammad Hafeez, has stressed that players's first priority should be representing Pakistan and playing domestic cricket before partaking in leagues across the world.

Hafeez stressed that the management wanted players to know the importance of red-ball cricket and that some decisions would be made to save Pakistan cricket.

"We need to prioritise representing Pakistan. We also need to bring playing domestic cricket in Pakistan to the top of our priorities. Red-ball cricket is the most important cricket, but we're seeing many players in Pakistan are moving away from or don't want to play red-ball cricket," Hafeez said in a press conference ahead of departing for the Australia Test series.

Pakistan middle-order batter, Iftikhar Ahmed has revealed the rationale behind choosing to participate in the National T20 Cup, the country’s top domestic tournament, rather than the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Although initially signed by Bangla Tigers for the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament commencing on December 28, Iftikhar Ahmed decided to participate in domestic cricket for the Peshawar region instead.

He added, “I have played for Pakistan after playing domestic cricket, and playing for Pakistan is what has earned me respect, so as a player and a professional, I should also pay respect to domestic cricketers and Pakistan (by playing here).”

Pakistan women’s cricket team defeated New Zealand XI in the tour’s first practice match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval, Lincoln.

Batting first, Pakistan made 238 runs in the allotted 50 overs for the loss of 13 wickets (15 batters of each team can bat in a practice match). Pakistan restricted the New Zealand XI to 181 for 13. Captain Nida Dar was the pick of the bowlers as she took four scalps. Her figures read 4-11 at the end of the innings.

Pakistan will play their next practice match against the same opposition on the same ground on Thursday for a T20 match.

South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) has announced an inaugural ‘SAFF Club Championship’ for the next year, 2024.

It is believed that at least 16 teams will participate in the event; four (each) from India and Bangladesh, three from Maldives, two from Nepal and one each from Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Pakistan.

Three Pakistani football clubs have the chance to participate in the Championship. Afghan Club Chaman, Muslim FC and Baloch FC Nushki will play a tri-series amongst themselves, and the winner will qualify for the SAFF event. According to sources, the matches will be held next month.

Pakistan’s premier Valorant squad ‘Team Snakes’ progressed to the ‘Round of 16’ stage of the 2023 Red Bull Campus Clutch – World Finals. Snakes played a total of 3 matches today, winning against Aussie Underdogs, KRC Genk Esports, and Team Lemon.

Snakes defeated Aussie Underdogs by 13-9. The second match was against Belgium’s KRC Genk Esports, Snakes won it 13-6. The third and final match was against the Swiss ‘Team Lemon’ which Snakes won comfortably by 13-2.
