Malika Hamid is the founder of Pass the Pages, Pakistan’s largest book recycling initiative dedicated to bridging the educational divide. Since its inception, the project has recycled and donated over 5,000 books to underprivileged communities—reaching remote areas as far as Kashmir.

Driven by the belief that “waste for one is a gift for another,” Malika’s mission is to ensure every child has the opportunity to dream, explore, and grow through the power of stories. Beyond book donations, Pass the Pages organizes literary camps, hospital visits, and internships in underprivileged schools to foster learning, empathy, and awareness of societal issues.

Through her work, Malika champions a simple yet powerful idea: knowledge should never go to waste—and together, we can keep passing the pages, one book at a time.

Prof. Dr. Kanwal Khalid holds a Master’s degree in Graphic Design and a PhD in South Asian History of Art. Her research focuses on the arts of the Mughal and Sikh eras. A specialist in culture and heritage, she has presented papers and delivered lectures internationally. She was selected by the French government for training in Museum & Heritage and has also completed UNESCO-certified training on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH).

In her roles with the Government of Punjab, she has served as Keeper of Paintings at the Lahore Museum, taught at Lahore College for Women University and the University of the Punjab, and held the position of Director of Punjab Archives. She led the pioneering project on the digitization, preservation, and modernization of the Punjab Archives & Libraries Wing (S&GAD), the first of its kind in Pakistan.

Currently a full-time professor, she also works as a History Consultant with the Walled City of Lahore Authority and Aga Khan Culture Service, Pakistan.

Malik Haider Ali is a final-year A-Level student at Aitchison College, Lahore, with a strong interest in public health. Living in Lahore’s smog-laden environment sparked his passion and led him to research the effects of air pollution on respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, and pneumoconiosis.

He compiled a comprehensive literature review on the subject and advocates for empowering students to explore research in areas they care about. Haider believes that by critically observing their surroundings, young people can identify urgent community issues and help shape a better future.
