Afia سرینا Nathaniel I’ve been waiting a long time to share this exciting news. “Don’t be late, Myra” will have its World Premiere at Woodstock! They have - so lovingly - welcomed this tiny film from Pakistan into their family. Dropping the poster today!
I was about to make this two years ago when I found out I had cancer. This short film was going to be my return to the industry after a hiatus of more than a decade. After the initial diagnosis, I didn’t know how much time I had or if I would ever be able tell this very personal story. But over the months, healing came. And with it the courage to tell a story that was forced to be silent for so many years. I finally did make it to Pakistan and filmed on the streets of my beloved city of Lahore. It was a crazy but beautiful journey we call “filming” but to me each film is the ability to dream in the real world. I am deeply indebted to my entire cast and crew and all those who helped along the way, particularly, my producer who is the reason I could dream again. Thank you for this gift. It is one I will never forget.
Come and experience this journey on the big screen at Woodstock Film Festival on 18th October 2024. More info to follow!
Logline: Ten-year old Myra is forced to walk home alone, dodging men harassing her on the streets of Lahore. Soon things escalate in this thriller where a sinister turn quietly awaits her.
