Lyallpur clock tower in 1910.
The clock tower of Lyallpur was built in 1905 by the Hindu community at a cost of Rs 40000 in Undivided India. All of them were residents of Chenab Colony. The surprising thing is that the name of Chenab Colony was written as Chandrabhaga Colony in Hindi which is the ancient name of Chenab River in Santan Dharam....
Also KESRI GATE of Lyallpur near gumti square was built by lala Mohan lal son of Bihari das in the foundation year of Lyallpur (Now Faislabad) in 1897. Lyallpur is now in Pakistan.
This city was named in honour of Lieutenant-Governor of the Punjab, Sir James Broadwood Lyall, for his role in establishing the canal colonisation project.The surname Lyall was joined with the noun pur, meaning 'city' in Sanskrit....
On 1 September 1977, the Government of Pakistan changed the name of the city from Lyallpur to Faisalabad...
