Arshad Butt, a junior clerk at Services Hospital Lahore, turned out to be a millionaire ringing bells in Anti-Corruption’s ears.
Arshad Butt was originally appointed as a Grade IV government employee at Services Hospital Lahore, was found to have acquired his position through fraudulent degrees.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered by the authorities that despite having a monthly salary of just Rs57,000, Butt had received transactions totaling Rs11 million in his bank account over the past eight months. Additionally, he possesses an 18 kanal and 18 marlas commercial property, with two houses registered under his wife's name.
Further inquiry revealed that Arshad Butt had established a private laboratory near Services Hospital in the Shadman area. An individual named Abdus Samad, also employed at the government hospital, was tasked with bringing patients to Butt's private lab for sample collection, with the samples later being tested at the Services Hospital's laboratory, all at the government's expense.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered that Butt possessed counterfeit stamps of the hospital's Medical Superintendent (MS) and Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS). Additionally, the accused employee had been collecting bribes amounting to millions from numerous permanently absent workers, who paid him from their salaries without ever reporting to the hospital.
